Debbie Cousins's Journal, 18 May 19

Yesterday was a good day. I opened the windows for a couple hours in the morning. My Kentucky Wonder String Beans are flourishing and I love looking at them each day. I did all my home PT exercises, folded and put away two loads of laundry, loaded the dishwasher, recorded everything I ate in my Food Diary, and reduced the amount of food I've been eating by trying something new. Here is what I HAD been doing: I would eat a "meal" (for instance Spaghetti Squash with Low Carb Sauce), then IMMEDIATELY eat a whole orange, then immediately eat an Atkins Chocolate Coconut bar. About an hour later, I would have another gorging, and continue doing that ALL DAY!

Yesterday, I decided that I would only eat ONE THING at a sitting, and when I finished it, I set my alarm on my phone for one hour. Then, I could have ONE more thing. [So, orange - wait one hour. Watermelon - wait one hour. Spaghetti Squash - wait one hour.] There were two times when I went two hours between eating. Even though this was STILL a lot of food (1,961 calories), I was still able to lose weight this morning (1-1/2 pounds), probably partly because I've gone back OFF of the Diet Coke and drank solely non-caffeinated green tea sweetened with Stevia.

I stayed up later than usual last night, and caught up on ALL my notifications, as well as Challenge Forums, and got everyone (as of that point) entered into the upcoming "Daily Accountability 2019-#20" and "Swimsuit Slimdown PART 2 (SS#2)" challenges, both of which start on Monday. Today, I need to send out 19 Private Messages to the people for whom this will be their VERY FIRST challenge, and place some introductory Forum posts on each challenge. Results are now in from Week #11 of the FIRST Swimsuit Slimdown, and I need to congratulate all those participants on their great work!

Today, I'm going to try to improve upon my eating and water consumption even more. My husband came to bed very late and woke me up at 1:30am. When I couldn't go back to sleep by 2:30, I went ahead and got up. So, I've already eaten one navel orange. I set my alarm for one hour, at which time I will drink 8 ounces of WATER. Then, I'll set it for another hour, at which time I can have something else to eat. REPEAT throughout the day. I feel like a baby on a 2-hour feeding schedule, but it is helping to wean me OFF of eating CONSTANTLY! I would NOT recommend that anyone follow my example in this! It is just what I have to do for right now to come back from a place where I've been eating non-stop for a couple weeks!

I'm praying for ALL of us today - that we would have a victorious day in following our individual Ways of Eating! May God bless every one of you wonderful people who took the time to read my ramblings. I love my FatSecret Friends!!!

You certainly accomplished a lot yesterday. I am getting older and slower but still plodding along so I envy all that energy. Thanks for all you do for us, especially keeping me motivated.

One thing that has helped me in the past, and I am trying to do today, is delaying my first meal as late as possible. I am simply not going to starve to death :) However, once I start eating it is a 'mental struggle' to try to not go on a 'binge'. Meaning, I can do it (sometimes), but, it takes a 'mental toll'. I only have so much I can take 'mentally'. Good luck!

Great that you are back on the losing streak and you have a plan for yourself, going forward. I do think you should spend a little more "Me time". You do so much for everyone else.

That's a great way to shake things up for yourself and get back on track! When I wake up at night and can't get back to sleep, I get up and read for about an hour, or do my taxes, or do any other task that has been weighing on my mind, and I can usually get back to sleep after that. We need our beauty sleep!
