Draglist's Journal, 02 Apr 14

Waking weigh in at 209.2. Did not experience as much overnight dehydration as I usually do. All Tanita numbers closer to an afternoon reading. Drank extra water yesterday. Will continue and see how that goes. Adding more flax and chia seeds daily. Adding more calories earlier in the day so that I don't come home famished. Plan to enjoy each and every one of the extra 200 calories per day in thus month's budget!

I read a post the other day about Chia seeds, which I love, and how they can contribute to constipation problems. They absorb the water in the intestines and swell causing constipation. If you notice a change in your daily routine when adding more seeds let us know...maybe this is something all of us trying to lose weight need to be aware of. Have a great day.

Hey Bill, good morning. I hate those scale fluctuations but you handle them like a pro because you know it's just what your body does. Each weigh in is a crap shoot, is it not? That would drive me crazy but you know you are doing what you need to do and your body catches on eventually :)

Haha. I have a tripod. Selfies with a phone is particularly tough. My dad was a professional photographer. He spent so much time photographing wildlife. He's retired now.

Hey, at the chia seeds... I'm wondering if that has to do with fiber content / water. I've read that increased fiber can cause constipation, unless you also increase water intake. With increased water, it does its job, but without it, it can have the reverse effect (constip) because it absorbs so much water. Bill, since you're increasing water, I can see why it would be working well for you. Also, can't wait to see those before / after pics! :D

Lovergirl654, don't forget the WATER with high-fiber to grease the wheels (so to speak)! :D

Yeh, and I should have been clearer... that goes for **any** fiber. Not just chias. Increase water, when you increase fiber.

Draglist is it hard to eat more calories? I have trouble getting to 1200 , I'm simply too full and not hungry. Heading more toward maintenance, trying to figure out how I can increase calories.

Thanks just trying to figure this out. Added walnuts browned in a bit of butter to top my asparagus the other day it was yummy, had fish with it,

Mmmmm. Yes and pecans toasted in butter are really good too. Not sure if you do cheese, but fried cheese is low-carb but fairly dense in calories, and delicious. Careful with these. They can be dangerous. LOL!

Good ideas I could add more cheese back in. Cheese is good. I've been spoiling myself with really good parmesan and pecorino. A thin slice or two is so rich it kills wanting anything else. Sorry, not a pecan fan, wish I could find hazelnuts without driving 60 miles, love almonds, walnuts if they are fresh. Not worried about the carbs. My body doesn't handle lot of fat well. Tried some coconut milk just plain a few days ago almost made me sick. I like it in curries, Thai etc, but it doesn't have that fat feel in your mouth and throat. Thinking maybe more pasta especially going into fresh veggie season, so many sauces with veggies, quick and fresh. Had a piece of parmesan tonight, pepper jack is good. Mozzarella sticks I used to like now the fat they are cooked in seems to overwhelm the taste. I know...weird
