shirfleur 1's Journal, 10 Oct 19

Over the last 29 weeks I have lost an average of 1.7 pounds per week consuming roughly 1500-1600 calories per day and being sedentary (due to health issues and injuries). I know that, as I weigh less, I will have to either reduce my intake or increase my activities, so I am gradually getting back into swimming (as much as my physical limitations allow), in the hope that I can increase my activities enough to offset the reduced calorie requirements. Time will tell.

Shirfleur- that's awesome! You're one of my favorites on here- not that it pertains to anything but I think of you often. Realizing how crazy this sounds but still going to hit enter and say fuck it.

Princess, I am flattered, thank you.

You've done great! Your persistence has really paid off! Don't assume that you will need to reduce calories (don't speak that into existence). You may very well be able to stay at your current calorie intake and make it all the way to goal. Keep up the great work! You make it worthwhile for me to continue the challenges!

Shirfleur, have you re-done your BMR calculation? That would show whether you need to reduce calories to continue weight loss. Swimming is a double-whammy exercise: just being in the water sucks heat out of you (25 times faster than air!) so you use more calories just being in the water.

Gz, I do check my BMR periodically, and I'm eating below my level, so I know I'm good for a while. Thanks for the reminder.

That’s great! I wonder if you can do some kinds of physical therapy type activity to build strength. I’d think that as you get smaller, you’ll be able to be more active (of course I don’t know your limitations) 😁

👌👌👌 you can do this❣️ If you can do a little resistance training then you won’t need to reduce intake or increase exercise. Change it up and increae your metabolism❣️

It's all about learning how many calories (energy) that your body uses throughout each day. You can do it!

You really have done so well. A steady, sustainable loss! I stayed right around 1700 all the way through loss of 45 pounds. Some weeks I know it was quite a bit more because I was working out really really hard and needed the extra... or I just blew my diet, but I never had to significantly decrease as I went down... I expected to have to. Building a bit of muscle helped. Any movement makes a difference for sure! We are all cheering you on, Switz! You will sure figure out what is good for you!

Drag, I think this site is a great calculator, just leave anything that isn't intentional exercise as resting if you're afraid of it being too high.
