shirfleur 1's Journal, 10 Oct 19

Over the last 29 weeks I have lost an average of 1.7 pounds per week consuming roughly 1500-1600 calories per day and being sedentary (due to health issues and injuries). I know that, as I weigh less, I will have to either reduce my intake or increase my activities, so I am gradually getting back into swimming (as much as my physical limitations allow), in the hope that I can increase my activities enough to offset the reduced calorie requirements. Time will tell.

That’s sound advice Diablo😊 I cannot log everything I do. I remember to log sleep sometimes and exercises... any and all 😂or a huge laundry day and stair climbing or yoga. My big thing is logging my intake.

Switz....there may be some aquatic exercises you can find online that take into account your specific physical limitations. I try to look at diet and exercise separately. I am a firm believer that although diet and exercise go hand-and-hand, they should be approached separately. Each with the intent of contributing to overall health. For instance, do not exercise with the sole intent that you will be allowed to eat more. Eat a balanced, portion-controlled diet because it is healthy. Workout 150 minutes/week because it is healthy.

I also am someone who has never actually logged any exercise here. I don't add more calories allowed to a day I work out unless I am physically hungry. Many days I walked 10 miles and ate no more than a day I did nothing. I'm pretty sure that is kind of normal for many. If the scale is moving, like it surely is doing for you, you are doing it right! 🇨🇭 ❤️☺️

Lady, do you regularly see a PT or doctor? I'm sure they have ideas that fit your personal conditions, too. Was twinning you today in the pool! You are my inspiration.

If u ever want to exercise, do it when you plateau 😉 (don’t decrease calories and increase calories out #cico)

Just to clarify, I have no intention of trying to exercise so that I can increase my caloric intake. My thought was that, as my weight drops, I might need to decrease my caloric intake, but I was hoping that my increase in physical activity might negate that need. Because I am old and brittle, the only physical activity I have found I can safely engage in is swimming laps, which is what I am now beginning to do again (I could not for a long time because of an injury). I don't swim to lose weight, I swim because I believe doing so is beneficial to my health (and because I enjoy it). Binky, yes, I have discussed all my issues with my doctor. As for calculating my BMR, I never factor in any exercise. Thank you all, this has been an educational and thought provoking discussion.

I so understood what you were saying about wondering if you would need to drop to fewer calories as you get smaller. That was exactly my question a few months ago. I started at 1500 and actually pushed it up to between 1700 to 2000 most of the time, because... Ummm rosio. 😁 I wondered if I would need to reduce more and I really didn't. As you have already done, you will figure it out as you go further for sure. I really don't know enough about tracking cico. I just think if the scale is moving ur doing it!

Yes, you can add an activity, keep your intake the same, and continue losing. You just have to make sure that the added activity isn't causing you to move less in other parts of your day, and that your hunger doesn't cause you to make up for the extra energy out.

Thanks Melissa, I think I've got this now. Diablo, I really appreciate your taking the time to respond on this, thank you very much. Everything you said coincides with my plan, which I find very reassuring. 🌈🌈🌈

Amazing weight loss so far!!! I didn't have to start walking around as much until I got around 205 pounds and my lowest adult weight was 169 when I was 21. So it's possible that being a woman, you will probably continue to drop weight pretty quick until you get to around 150 and then you will be fit enough to start walking and trying things out that will benefit you. Just keep focusing on healthier food options and try little things to keep you more active I.E. cleaning out the pantry, fall cleaning, washing off the windows, little goals at a time that will help build you up to your full potential. Best of wishes❤💚💜💙💛❤💚💜💙💛.
