Danana's Journal, 18 Aug 19

My line has been red for seven years. I don't know what it takes to get to the next color. I do know I need to lose about 40 more pounds to get out of the obese category. "I think I can. I think I can...."

@Danana, the color of the line is a factor of how much weight you've lost (or haven't) relative to your goal. I used to think I knew what the proportions were (as in, when it changed color at each level), but I was wrong.

Change your mind set. I know I can! You will do this! 💙

Thanks, Erq! I KNOW I can!

Well, Mira, I will just work towards it regardless!

The line changes colors as you drop the weight, but i am not exactly sure what it is based on specifically.

You can for sure. What could possibly be more worthwhile than feeling fantastic health wise. Without health, not even the biggest bank account is worth much. Just keep at it, learn, and maybe the most important, unlearn. The environment surrounding us is full of misinformation.

As long as you keep at it, you'll achieve your goal. My message to myself, for motivation, was/is - " I am intelligent, I can figure this out."

In order to finally hit that goal you might consider taking a very critical look at what you are currently eating— your WOE and the amount you are eating. Are you eating in a deficit. Recalculate your recommended daily intake. Take another critical look at your energy expenditure. There are probably some very good reasons why you have stalled for 7 years.

Log everything absolutely everything. It is tedious to many, but I really love it.

Absolutely right Kenna. That's what I have finally done. I stalled for 7 years because I have been in denial about how much I eat and that I can't out-exercise excessive calories. Because I'm very active and strong it allowed me to be in denial about how bad the extra weight is for me. Now that I'm paying attention to portion size and logging what I eat I am slowly losing. My WOE is sustainable. I have a lot to lose on a very small frame so I expect it to take about 2 years realistically.

Diddlee, so true, but my issue was lying to myself, which I am no longer doing. Thanks for your support.

JCmama. I really don't like logging, but I know I am successful when I do. It's been easier for me in the summer since I wasn't working, but now I'm back at work so it's more of a challenge, but I'm planning on sticking to it. Thanks for always being so supportive.

We are the easiest to pull the wool over. Absent minded eating is a problem of mine. I admit to it. I can be driving and my son will go in to buy a soft drink and candy or chips. I will unconsciously EAT what he brings me and then be sick with myself. I have wondered if he does it on purpose, but I am deciding to hope not. That would be like living with the enemy, if you know what I mean.

I get it SheaDlady! My youngest daughter loves baking together. She just can't get it into her brain that I don't need to have sweets hanging around the house. I've gotten better at reducing the frequency of our baking and eating a small portion when we do. The struggle is real!

How about working with her to find recipes that are a little bit healthier, not perfect, and show her that you don’t have to be deprived in order to loose and maintain weight. You just have to learn to be creative. Then the two of you can still cook together. Let her help meal plan. A vested interest in helping you.

Yes, Kenna. My girls are teens. They each have to cook a balanced meal at least once a week. Fortunately both girls love vegetables. I have told younger daughter we can bake once a month.

Time to get real about how much we are really eating. Move a little more, eat a little less. Let’s see the rainbow of colors. 🌈
