Today I ran my 2nd 5K, time was approximately 37:25 I think but need to do better about getting an accurate time. As before I'm just happy to have finished, no walking, and ended it strong. What I'm really happy about is my heart rate: Averaged about 150bpm and peaked at 172bpm pushing hard at the end. Nothing spectacular, but being able to do that with 5 stents and a minor branch of my right coronary artery closed off gives me a sense of personal achievement. My last stress test showed greatly increased blood flow, I'm hopefully continuing to build on that. I have no chest pain or discomfort at all while doing this level of exercise, that's great.
So...at this point I feel like I'm on a roll and need to keep the momentum going. I'd love to shed these last few pounds, get to my initial goal of 190, and see where I need to go from there. This is something entirely in my control and I just need to do it. The ONLY obstacle that can stop me is ME.

Nice pace and excellent progress with your overall health -- just remember to exercise 'extreme patience' with those last few lbs. -- I understand they're the most stubborn!

Thanks my friends. Losinit, I fear I have no choice but to be patient as the last pounds are hanging on for dear life! But progress is special too when it's hard fought.

Congratulations. Don't let those last few pounds discourage you. The key is being healthy, being able to do things we could not do before, and having fun. It is easy to lose sight of that as we strive to meet our goals - kind of "it's not the destination, its the journey". I had been running so hard to reach a goal that I had stopped enjoying it. I slowed down a little. It is going to take me longer to reach my goal and I may now never get there - but I will have fun trying to get there. Mine was running - I wanted so badly to do a 1/2 marathon by this January. But I was running and not looking at the stars, talking to my kids (when they run with me), or listening to nature - I was running to get to the goal.

Mattstoc I agree 100%, the important thing is continuing the journey, enjoying it, and being healthy. Thanks.
