jmb3450's Journal, 11 Jun 15

I got my Fitbit Charge HR yesterday. Found out the large band fits me so I don't have to wait for the XL to become available. Thanks to Draglist for the tips and the other user here (don't remember his name) that developed the fitmess site...using it I'm syncing fatsecret with calories burned according to the tracker, and syncing my Fitbit account with food intake entered on fatsecret. Pretty cool! Am looking forward to tracking exercise sessions and heart rate zones during workouts, along with everything else the tracker does.

I bought it from Dick's Sporting Goods, and there's a way to save a few dollars if you get one from them. At Raise.com you can buy an e-voucher at a discount. I purchased one worth $154 for $136, saved $18 on it. Then used the e-voucher on Dick's website to buy the Fitbit tracker (put the additional 5 bucks on my credit card), and then just picked it up on my way home from work yesterday. They only had black available so if you want the plum (purple) band you'll need to get it elsewhere. My wife is interested in the plum band and Walmart has them, I can get a Walmart card or voucher from Raise.com at about 4.5% discount so there's still a way to save a few bucks on that too. I'm always looking for ways to get a discount if there is one.

Weight is still up a little, 205.2 lbs this morning. I'd slacked off from using the Total Gym and am back to it this week, kind of sore, so fluid retention is probably a factor. But no worries, I'm right on track with activity and eating so it'll work out in the long run. That's it...have a great Thursday!

Cool, maybe I should look into a fitbit, occasionally I use a life track which isn't bad but I don't have the version that can sync to anything.

Hey does fitbit account for lactating moms? Just curious.

Glen, ditto what Bill said. The fitmess site lets you link calories in and calories out between fitbit and fatsecret. Loving my fitbit, bought another yesterday for my wife. Expensive yes, essential no, but it's a very useful tool and I'm already finding it's giving me motivation to do more and insight into my daily activities. @Sillyca, I don't know if a fitbit would account for lactating moms or the extra calories burned in supplying breast milk, it would be a good question to ask customer support at the fitbit website.

Silly, no it does not. Measures mostly steps.

what fitness site? lets you link it?

Thanks for the advice on the Fitbit Jmb. I may ask for one for Fathers day as I am looking for away to automatically link my excercise to Fat Secret and this sounds like it may work. I did a little research and Kohl's has it for $149.99. You cannot use coupons, but they are currently offering $10 Kohl's cash for every $50 you spend. If you can add something that cost a penny you would get $30 in Kohl's Cash to buy something else. Plus if you purchase online and go through the Ebates site you can earn 6% cash back. It would be like getting the Fitbit for $111.

WFN, the site is fitmess.us. You need to have set up either a facebook or google account, then you log on to the fitmess site using either one of those accounts. It'll walk you through linking fitbit with fatsecret. I set mine up so my calories burned on fitibit upload to my fatsecret exercise log automatically, and so the total calories of the food I enter into my log at fatsecret updates to my fitbit account.

Tombelljr, that sounds great. Any way to save money and get more bang for your bucks is always a good thing, a net of $111 for the fitbit is fantastic and beats the savings I got. I wonder if they sell the plum colored band, I just bought one for my wife from Walmart and was able to save about 6 bucks on it, I'd have much rather have spent $111.

I've had my Charge HR since February and I love it. I always wear it, you should see my tan line on my wrist from it ;-)

thanks jmb will try that this weekend. I don't log food in fitbit as I haven't found a place for recipies, logging individual foods is often way to difficult. I sure would lkie it to update exercise.

All this talk made me splurge and go out and get myself one today. Lol. I must say it was rather easy to set up and get it to link to Fat Secret. It really is the nuts! Thanks Jmb! It really is going to be a good aid in my weight loss.

What am I doing wrong, I can't find this site: fitness.us. Help. :)

I have the flex. It was free from my employer and I have purchased some new bands as after a year the original was splitting. I like it, though it annoys me sleeping some times as I have tiny bones and it is much larger than a watch I would purchase. I'm now addicted to the challenge of making 70,000 steps a week. It is good for me.

Kiwinana, my error. It's fitmess.us
