I lost too much weight too quickly. I knew when my bench went down and my pullup rep went up that I lost some muscle, so I decided to weight myself to confirm (weigh ins are typically Mondays), and yup lost over two pounds since Monday. This isn't what I was wanting. Cutting and gains are a very hard dance to execute. I loath going backwards in the workout weight gains. Any advice is appreciated from those who know this struggle. BTW, 3" of snow on the ground here in central MD and still coming down, first of the season.

Sorry about the snow... I am in MN and hate it...cutting and gains are a hard dance...have you ever read "Bigger, Leaner, Stronger" by Mike Matthews? He is opinionated but has some nice information about cuts and gains formulas,,,just a thought

chrisw77, do you follow a certain percent of protein per pound of body weight?

Sometimes in my case the weight came off fast, and seemed like I was missing out (high interaction with my peers) when I went into maintenance mode, it is a mind set, got to loose , got to loose, now the hard part for me is just keeping it off, which seems much harder to me !! The cheering crowds are just not there in maintenance mode, so sometimes I just don't feel as motivated !! Just thoughts and I'm DO N OK !!!

@DO N OK - I have redefined 'maintenance mode' to "Gain and Lose" mode :)

The CHEER has to come from inside your head to be effective long term. The external CHEER Can be a plus but not critical to your success.

I don't know the answer, but get ready for your favorite snow shovel workout! But be careful, that stuff is heavy!

chrisw77, I've tried to keep protein at .75 per pound, but perhaps I'll shoot for 1 for 1 for a week or so. I try (95% of the time) to just weigh once a week unless something seems off in my workout. Like, if I'm off in pullups it's almost a guarantee that I've put on more than a puond, and when my bench drops I've lost muscle. I don't really consider myself being in maintenance mode. I'm just trying to get to 10% body fat, at 155 lbs while increasing my bench, deadlift, pullups, and pushups. I like to play around with challenges, and that keeps me in maintenance mode without regretting it.

@adamevegod1 - I feel you on wanting to get to 10% body fat. I know I have to increase my muscle, but if I don't carb up I simply cannot lift heavy. But, when I carb up I gain weight (7 pounds in three days this weekend). If I can't lift heavy I wont have the bulk I need to be able to drop my body fat and not look sickly...

I'm doing 120grams of protein a day with a @Chrisw77 shot or orange juice. Seems to be working... :)

Thanks for ringing in on this guys. chrisw77 I've actually tried carbing up pre workout, but have found that every time I do my lifts suffer. I eat light carbs like half a beagle or some toast and juice a banana or the like, and still lifts suffer. I do best first thing in the morning. adefwebserver (you need an easier name to spell) I'm not a keto dieter, I eat carbs, but good carbs and generally stay away from junk. At 57 it's a real balancing act that I've not mastered, and am not sure I shall. I'll keep poking away at it. Again thanks.

Will consider that chrissw77

I thought you liked orange juice for the quick jolt of energy, must say it is healthier option to go with that complex carb
