Diet Cola Chicken

Diet friendly barbeque style chicken breasts.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Mix ketchup and diet cola (like diet Coke) in a medium bowl.
  2. Arrange 4 chicken breasts in a large skillet, pour ketchup and cola mixture over the top. Ensure that mixture covers chicken on all sides.
  3. Turn burner to medium heat and cook for 30 minutes, covered, stirring and scraping occasionally to prevent sticking.
  4. Remove lid and cook an additional 10-15 minutes until chicken is done and sauce sticks to chicken.

Aspartame, when heated, turns into formaldehyde. You absolutely should not cook with it.

Pretty good! I was a little worried this would be to sweet with the cola, but surprisingly it wasn't overbearing like expected. My husband liked it as well. Might try using rootbeer next time, but will be eating again.

Comes out exactly the same every time I make it so the instructions are spot on. Really, really good. Any leftovers make great sandwiches the next day.

I made this last night, but used chicken breast tenderloins (I've found it's easier for me to control portions using the tenderloins) and even my 13 year old son wanted seconds. Very good and you'd never know it was 'diet' food...Will make again!

I used Sweet Baby Ray's Sweet and spicy instead of Ketchup. Loved the way that the mixture stuck to the chicken.

I used zero cherry coke and added a little garlic and black pepper and this was delicious and my husband loved it too. This will be a weekly at my house. Thanks to whoever invented this it was so easy. Send me some more recipes like this. I am not a person that likes to cook that's why I usually fail at dieting.

This looks good and from the good reviews i would love to try it but Im not crazy about using the soda. Im trying to stay away from soda this year. Any other alternatives such as sparkling water or something?? Im sure the taste wont be the same but non the less no soda for me.

I originally submitted this recipe for WW, not any sort of carb reducing weight loss program. 1/4 of the recipe is 5 Weight Watchers Points, 1/2 the recipe (which is what my husband and I normally eat) is 9 Pts. I'm glad so many people are enjoying it!
