Made this tonight. Delicious! I tripled the vegetables by adding 2 -12 oz. bags of cooked, frozen mixed veggies(corn, peas, carrots). Spread them in between ground beef/green bean layer and mashed potato layer.

Ground turkey is really good if you spice it up. Terragon, basil, cumin, celery, salt, pepper...

I thought it was an excellent idea, I substituted yams for the potatoes. May be too sweet for many, but my girlfriend and I thought it was excellent. I made it Thursday, it's Sunday and I'm making it again.

AMAZING!! My boyfriend (who is a huge fan of all things fried and fatty) asked if we could eat this every week, one of his favorite things I have made!! i only made 1/4 of the amount though so I wouldnt have so much extra lyig around there are only 2 of us. I also added some peas and carrots, yum :)

6 pts. Margarine and milk for the mashed potatoes? In that case, I would omit the cheese.

Ground beef works just as well as ground turkey, and if you get the lean stuff (85% or 90% lean), it's just as good for you. I also put a cup or two of super sweet corn in mine. Makes it go further and adds more veggies to your dish!

To answer Lillian93940 Being from the UK- where Shepherd's Pie is a winter favourite- it is usually made with minced lamb (hence the shepherd name) and is delicious.
