Ty erik and deb…I’m just in shock at how easy the weight comes off from fasting…after carrying it so many years and asking the doctor what I could do..until my last visit..it was always cico…..but when I told him I had been fasting…then..it opened the door ….

WBH! I hear you, a few years back I told my Dr that I was doing intermittent fasting, and she perked up and shared that she also used it, she's a late 30's Internest with three young children, said she started keto in med school and added Intermittent fasting after her 3rd child was born. She happily agreed to order the bloodwork I needed to monitor my health and she tells me I have the health markers for a 20 year old. All of my bloodwork is still perfect, she firmly believes that my weight gain was brought on entirely by emotional stress. She was my Mom's Doc also and could not understand why Mom would not get her blood sugars under control with diet and instead relied completely on increasing doses of insulin to keep her BS down. I carry on now with her complete approval and she watches my bloodwork and examines me for any signs of mal-nutrition or other alarming conditions. She also said that cico is the only diet she is allowed to recommend to patients and it has caused her much frustration because many of her patients could benefit from taking a different path. She has no issues supporting and monitoring me in a WOE of my choosing.

The dietician that I went to for the first time a few weeks ago said she didn't know much about keto when I asked 😳🤯😵‍💫

The dr I go to..that opened up about fasting..I told him longest fast I had done at the time was 48… that’s when he suggested a 5 day…lol…about a week later I did ac5 day….I fast more then I eat now…as my graph indicates….and really I don’t miss food….I have a bloood test coming up in July….3 months ago ,y A12 was 5.4…I’m thinking it will be even lower this time..but not sure how fast they go down….my doctor always told me my numbers were good enough that I wasn’t diabetic….but know I kno…I’m doing even better…

Zen, according to Misty, my Doc. She said Doctors catch flack from the Insurance companies when they step outside "medical Norms" and when they have Doctors that openly flaunt those norms, they remove them from their physician lists and they won't be allowed to accept that insurance from their patients. It's a form of blackmail to keep everyone toeing the line.

My dr…isn’t yet a doctor….but still on top of things…he would tell me Mike cico….but in April when I seen him..and he said it again..I said bullshit…his eyes got big..I had his attention…lol…and when I was talking I f….I was feeling him out….I didn’t know how he might react,..but once we talked for a few…and he suggested longer fasts…his words…move more..eat less….seen a tshirt with that saying….thought about buying one..wearing it to next visit with him…lol…and say..it’s true…..

@Debra seems about right. You guys got lucky to find doctor's that support you. I normally just don't go, unless it's a life or death issue.

I get most of my advice from the docs on YouTube, and their books. I've never gotten useful advice in person. Most of them are unaware of low carb, which is the only way for me to nourish my body and mind.

The one time I went to an (expensive) functional medicine doc, he prescribe a shoebox full of supplements that I just couldn't keep up with. Now I'm down to just a few of them and haven't seen a doc in two years. Feeling good, continuing to lose weight.

When will the naysayers figure out that fasting is CICO? CI = 0 and you can't get lower than that.
26 Jun 23 by member: LadyinDenim
@Lady it is CICO, but as we know, it isn't JUST CICO. I've never followed just a CICO diet that I didn't feel like I was starving on. I've never followed just a CICO diet where my cravings went from craving junk to craving veggies. ETC...

Preaching to the choir, absolutely.

I really don't feel like I'm starving, actually on my eating days I have to check my numbers twice because it REALLY feels like too much food!
