Fritzy 22's Journal, 01 Feb 22

My goal for January was to lose 5 pounds. And 5 pounds every month in 2022 or 60 pounds. I gained about a pound. So, not so good. I didn't think I ate that bad. I don't log everything so I started thinking about the month. Went to Jimboys once and had 2 tacos and a coke. That's not bad, I can work that in to my allowable calories. Got a Papa Murphy's pizza once. Bought some molasses cookies at the bakery and ate them all within 3 days (about 12 big cookies). Bought 2 Butterfingers at the grocery store when I saw they were on sale at the checkout stand. Ate one while unpacking the groceries at home and ate the 2nd one an hour later. I did the same thing the next time I went to the grocery store because they were still on sale. Other than that......................
94.2 kg Lost so far: 0 kg.    Still to go: 20.7 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.

I think you already figured out what to do...log ALL your food and work those extra treats into your daily (or weekly as I prefer) calories. 5 lbs a month is a reasonable goal...good luck 👍

I find it is easy for me to eat too much fat and not enough protein. I log as I eat and plan dinner and dessert on what I need to balance out. Otherwise... figure out what will work for you.

Fritzy, your journal sounds like mine! I gained a lot of weight lolling around in my recliner because my right leg is being tormented by my sciatic nerve. My Dr was supposed to call me @5 pm to talk about a procedure, but I think I have been stood up🤔Maybe he will call tomorrow.

I have a hard time giving up sweets. I can do it for a bit, but then the craving for chocolate comes back with a vengeance. The one way I learned I could still lose weight and not have to give up my treats is to portion them out. Now I buy the Fun Size candy bars or if I have a regular one, I only eat 1/4 or 1/2. I take the portion I want and immediately put the rest away for the next day, so as not to be tempted to eat all of it. Just work on logging your food and portion control and you'll start to see the numbers headed in the direction you want them to be headed. Good luck!!

Oh, yeah, I have the same review weekly: 3 cookies here, a piece of cake there, dessert a couple of time a week. Treats at work. Snacks working from home. Lots of buttered bread at restaurants even though I order salads. It's hard

I have to stay away from sweets. I know just one won't hurt me but if I eat one, it becomes two and then usually for 3 days I'm eating alot of junk food. I work to hard to keep doing this so I try to stay away..I'm not always successful..

Thanks Christine - I try to log daily, but once I know I've blown it for the day I don't bother. I usually log to make sure I don't go over my calories and that I get enough protein. 5 pounds a month sure sounded easy to me. Memphis - I keep trying and do okay as long as I shop with a list and ignore the candy bars that are on sale. Diehard - I hope you can get that procedure and get rid of the pain! I had my 2nd physical therapy appointment today. I am really sore now, but hopefully it will help. I am having a hard time with stairs right now. My right leg and hip hurt and the stairs are tough. I have 8 or 9 to get into my house. Wldwds - Thanks! Hopefully February will be better than January. Kathryn - Portion control is always my goal. But it doesn't work with snacks or sweets. I remember buying cookies at the bakery and then putting them in individual freezer bags and putting them in the freezer thinking I would just get one once in awhile. Didn't work. I kept going to the freezer for another cookie. Having a cup of hot chocolate every morning helped me for a long time. Then I got tired of the hot chocolate. Abba - I was surprised when I started remembering "little" things I did during the month. I love buttered bread! Diana, you sound just like me. The best thing I can do is not have the stuff in the house.

Thanks Liv! Crazycat - I find that for me to be successful I have to obsess about the diet. Otherwise I just don't do well. Daddy - did you finally try Jimboys? You can log their tacos in.

I find that unless I'm outright fasting, five pounds is a gold star month, rarely achieved. That's why I'm doing more fasting, because it's just hard to stay disciplined around food otherwise. My appetite doesn't match my weight loss goals, especially when it comes to treats.

No haven’t tried one yet can’t believe that either.

Erika - If I really follow my diet I usually lose 7-10 pounds the first month and after that 5-7 pounds. If I am being good I can lose 5 pounds. Maybe not in a short month like February, especially since I had fish and chips on the 1st! Daddy - you have to get to Jimboys. Tuesdays they are cheaper. I only get ground beef tacos.
