Very funny, FS. For April Fool's Day, FS has changed everyone's icon to a different picture of Nicolas Cage. It's pretty funny, actually.

The vet told me that my little Chihuahua is overweight by 1.5 pounds, so now both he and I are dieting together, haha. That means more exercise and fewer snacks, little puppy!

Looks like no one in this household goes hungry! I had no idea how much to feed him, so now I know: less. It will probably take all summer for him to lose that weight - he only weighs 8.8 pounds to begin with. And you thought YOU had it bad? LOL.

Have a great day, everyone.

Wow... 1.5 lbs. Can't imagine why the vet would even mention that. New day, new time lol. Bet you have a happy little dog!

It's a good thing the weather is getting better so maybe you can take your sweet chihuahua for walks. I have found that a dog when it comes to exercise never complains about doing it. I love that. Have a great day:)

OK, this cracked me up in an empathetic sort of way. Our doxie is overweight too. I'm not exactly sure of the amount but the vet has mentioned she could drop a couple lbs and I've noticed that she waddles. The last time I said that outloud she looked at me with a VERY injured look. Managing this IS a lot like managing the human diets around here. We also have one slightly larger dog (a terrier) and they eat at the same time and eat the same food. It's a dance to make sure the terrier gets enough and the doxie doesn't stuff herself. Then there's the issue of WHAT to feed them too. Mrs. Mole, I feel your pain!

Poor puppy. Miserable mom taking it out on him. :) Every time I see the word Chihuahua I think of WKRP. The pronunciation Les Nessman used was Chee who a who a. :) Speaking of which, why isn't Sean Bean pronounced either Seen Been, or Shawn Bon. Stupid language.

Northern Musician - I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks of Les Nessman and the Chee WHO ah Chee Who ah. There's not much of a sadder sight than a small dog who has been put on a diet.

Vickie, the problem is that I thought the dog was starving because, unlike a normal dog, he doesn't eat when I feed him. He only eats when I either hand feed him or when I'm not looking, like asleep. So I thought he was starving and I was hand feeding him (yeah, I totally know he's spoiled, don't start). Now all I have to do is not hand feed him and let him eat when he is hungry and he will lose the weight naturally. He was only 5 pounds when we got him and had been abused, so hand feeding seemed like a good bonding thing at the time. Please don't hate me because I spoil my dog. It's probably good that I don't have kids, LOL.

Mrs. Mole, I can't comment on spoiling the dog... It would definitely be a case of the pot calling the kettle black ;-)

Now we have something else in common - my dog is overweight as well.

Lots of us have chunky pups. I quit giving mine doggie snacks and now give her sodium free string beans out of a can. She thinks it's wonderful. Vet suggested to also give her carrots. So if you feel the need to give them a treat they love the veggies.

Awwww. My chi pom mix is 7 1/2 pounds, he's mostly fur so looks bigger. 11/2 pounds at that size is a big difference!! My 2 dogs are spoiled as well. Any treats are tiny. I use home made training size treats. If they get people food it's an ity bitty piece. IE: cheese a 1/4 inch sliver. My Boston mix loves any veggies or fruit, my chi/pom is fussier but he does like carrots. They both get their daily fish oil pill. Vet says it is really good for them and it's their nightly treat.
