Debbie Cousins's Journal, 27 Jul 19

Finally had a BM and weight came down a tad. Still struggling to choose water over Diet Coke, and that King's Hawaiian Bread keeps calling my name. Thankful my weight was down in spite of the two rolls I had with just butter and three I had with sliced chicken breast and mayo (and chips!) Sometimes, we get blessed for no good reason at all. I'll take it, though!
83.0 kg Lost so far: 34.5 kg.    Still to go: 15.0 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.
Losing 2.4 kg a Week

It's not always easy, but we're aiming for big rewards! Maybe keeping the rolls out of the house would help, as long as your family can deal with that. It's hard for me to resist stuff staring me in the face. Best wishes, prayers, and blessings, Debbie!

Question. My understanding of the WLS is that it limited the amount you could consume. Is that only initially? Someone else commented on my journal that they can only eat a couple of spoons of food at a time. I've been following your journal sharing the struggle with regain and overeating. I'm confused.

I also love the Hawaiian bread rolls but manage to keep them out of the house. I find them sometimes in a 4 pack which is helpful. For about 10 days now I've been choosing water over the diet sodas and am feeling good about it. Nice loss!!

Keep your eye on the REAL prize (and it isn't Hawaiian rolls or diet cola). Follow the yellow brick road! You CAN do this. 💖💖💖

And as long as you are in a calorie deficit you will keep losing weight, despite the consumption of bread

@FullaBella, it's been over 13 years since I had the Gastric Bypass Surgery. At first, I could only eat a very small amount. Then I started drinking the Diet Coke again, and stretched out my stomach. Now, I can and, unfortunately, DO eat as much as I want. The only time I get sick is when I eat too FAST or don't chew my food thoroughly. That still happens once every week or two. Keyten's "mindful eating" would probably eliminate that altogether.

Thank you for answering. I hope you know I wasn't judging; I just wonder about the people who've gone through all that risk and pain only to find they are back where they started. Diet coke - such an evil misleading beverage because it is only zero calorie with one serving but most people (old me included) drink it by the liter and never recognize the caloric intake.

When I used to drink Diet Coke(or any diet soda) with a meal, my stomach would blow up horribly. I'd feel like I needed a sling to carry it around! Now, I only sip plain water when I eat.

It messes with your gut bacteria and causes bloating, and other GI problems. Bread can cause constipation, too.
