A couple of powder ski pics as promised to a few buddies...taken in the back country, BC, Canada. Back is slightly improved from yesterday, did a short, slow walk with my wife & dog this afternoon. All good, very thankful as it could have been much worse.

Powder skiing is more like floating on a cloud than skiing. I used to love it in my teens.

Hey Sarah, falling in powder snow is very soft & safe. Avalanches & tree wells are killers though.

Steven. I was skiing at Silver Star one winter. We're coming down the hill and my friend, a really great guy, spotted a glove and skied over to pick it up to take it to the chalet. There was a hand in it. We hollered at another skier ans asked them to get the ski patrol and to bring shovels. In about three minutes we had dug the guy's head clear of the snow well. Very happy ending. He said he was yelling from the well, but we never heard him.

Wow Northern that guy was so lucky. We always wear avi beacons and packs with shovels, probes, etc in the backcountry, I even ski with my pack about 75% of the time at resorts (hydration mainly). Haven't used my avi gear at a resort yet but I've have had to use it several times over the years in the backcountry...mainly digging someone out of a tree well.
