Today was a good day, started with excellent church services this morning. After coming home and changing clothes my wife and I went over to my mom's - she had her deck and gazebo stained this week so with my brothers we moved all the furniture, plants and fixtures back, put the lights back up. Then cooked some fantastic huge steaks on the grill, sampled some Orange Whip IPA my brother got from a micro brewery, along with a glass of wine with dinner. Cake and ice cream afterwards. It's been a long time since I've done all that, I ate what I wanted and enjoyed the time together with family. I'm not even going to try and log the food, no point in it. This is the first time since May I've gone off to this extent. Tomorrow I go back on the weight loss journey but today was a sabatical from it and I'm not sorry one bit. Because days like this are now the exception and not the rule, and that really is a lifestyle change. Whatever the scale shows tomorrow I will overcome it and not long from now have that weight off and hitting new lows. Since May I'm not the person I used to be. That feels good, very good.

Sounds like you are confident in your ability to pick it up again. Your head (and your heart) are on the right track. Congratulations. Glad you still have your mother with you. My dad passed in June. I am now annoying my mother with my continual presence! :) Have a blessed day.

"Because days like this are now the exception and not the rule, and that really is a lifestyle change". How very well put. Since that post by Eddie, I've been thinking about where I am and where I'm going and I think you really got it. I agree, I'm not the person I used to be and I too feel good. Thanks for your wisdom.

Everybody needs a day off now and then. Sounds like you enjoyed your day. Are you a church musician? I play Quartet Gospel guitar.

Thanks everyone for your comments and support. I really will get back on track today after yesterday's enjoyment, targeting 1200 to 1300 calories a day this week to get things chugging along. @John10251, I play in the worship band at my church and lead worship when our pastor who normally does it isn't there. Usually I'm on guitar but have at times played mandolin, dobro, banjo, and electric guitar. Right now I'm the only guitar player so mostly doing acoustic. For about 17 years I had a gospel bluegrass band that over time included all of my 3 girls, what a blessing that was. But their lives are busy with other things now.

JMB, it sounds like your getting close to "complete control" with your diet. I like what I am hearing out of you! One thing to consider about the food logging. It might be a good idea to go ahead and log the food. This way you have a historical marker of how it affected your weight loss in the big picture. One month from now it might be nice to look back and see how the extra calories effected your loss for the week. It's just data, good or bad, either way, it's there for your use! Glad you had a great weekend!

Ok, I logged yesterday's food as accurately as I could

Your snacks sounds like an experiment for a future day's caloric intake I would like to try one weekend day in the future.

Sounds like you have a handle on eating and getting back on track. Good for you! It is always great to spend time with family and to enjoy yourself. The next day is another day to get "on the ball" again. Good luck!
