The excuses: I wasn’t approved for the patient assistance for the new medication (which does NOT cause weight gain, as my current one does); I had to take Prednisone for a week; then, I had a post implanted in my gum and had to eat soft foods for a couple days (mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, etc.)

The wake-up call: This morning, I weighed in at 189.5!!! That’s almost back into the 190’s! I CANNOT go back into the 190’s. So, today I’ve been eating everything I want (a double scoop of Friendly’s ice cream, massive numbers of cherries, two (count them, T-W-O) croissants slathered in butter, and Diet Coke ALL day!

Tomorrow, I’m taking the kids to the pool and I always bring food for them to eat on each hourly break. I will bring WATER for me, as well as hard-boiled eggs, yogurt and string cheese – and I’ll have a nice breakfast of bacon and a cheese omelet before we go, so I won’t be tempted to eat their Little Bites muffins or the chips I will bring. (They also eat the healthy foods.)

Tomorrow, I will actually SWIM! I haven’t swam in over a week because my back has been hurting really badly every day. I’ll swim SOME, even if it is hurting. I’ll also be taking the kids to the pool on Wednesday, so another opportunity for exercise.

This is like starting all over again! My stomach looks disgusting! My face is getting fat again. I’ve GOT to stick with this program! I DO have two whole watermelons which I bought today, and a fair amount of cherries left. But, I will log whatever I eat, even if it goes over on the carbs some. Can’t even remember the last time I logged my food!

Good luck! I’ve been back at it for 2 solid weeks and it feels good...it’s difficult at first but each day gets easier. You can do it!

You got this, Debbie! And I so understand the splurging. You should see my eating yesterday—pizza and two big ol’ pieces of grocery store cake slathered in icing. I also munched on cereal and chowed down on an Amy’s Mexican casserole and Tostitos. I’m just so hungry right now and regretting all that I’m bingeing on. I started taking creatine (actually it’s called “Three-atine” b/c it’s three types of creatine) a week ago to help build some muscle, and I’m wondering if it’s the reason I’m so hungry lately. I know I’ve gained and I don’t want to weigh in, but I’m going to have to to stay “honest.” I did read that creatine can make you gain a couple of pounds b/c it causes your muscles to retain water. And I have been drinking even more water b/c that was recommended over and over. We’ve both come so far, and you’re one of the reasons I stayed here and kept on trying. So you don’t give up, and I’ll do the same. It’s a lifelong change we both need so we can be there for those we love. We WILL do this!

Thank you, nice friends, for all your encouraging comments. So far today, I'm drinking WATER (instead of Diet Coke) and I've made good preparations for me to have at the pool with the kids today. I think I'm going to try to keep incorporating the fresh fruit for the time being - still recording all the carbs, but concentrating more on staying within my RDI for Calories. I'm not FEELING like swimming today, but I'm going to try to push myself to do it. Today is Day #1 of the rest of my life. I'm thankful that I didn't slip into the 190's for this morning's weigh-in, after all I indulged in yesterday!

Debbie Cousins, I drink water with lemon and cucumber and sometimes I add fruits like strawberries, blueberries because water can be boring so I get creative with adding something with the water. No types of sodas are good for you and diet is the worst.

Come on Deb, you can do it! Just remember where you came from and put your foot down. You DO NOT want to go back there. Stick to your plan. Luck has nothing to do with it woman - sheer will and determination. I know you can do it!
