Debbie Cousins's Journal, 13 Feb 19

Yesterday, I did something I've never done in my LIFE! It was bold! It was daring! It was definitely outside of MY box! It was something I never thought I'd be ABLE to do, much less look GOOD doing it!

Yesterday, (wait for it...) I wore leggings! I had bought them a couple weeks ago - black, with some big pink flowers on them. I didn't go shopping for them - just saw them at CVS and thought, "Hmmm. I wonder how bad I'd look in those?" They were only $7.99, so I figured it wouldn't be much of a loss if they looked terrible, and I could always take them back with the receipt if they were utterly ghastly!

Last night, I finally got up the courage and wore them to my friend's house - with a black v-neck top and longish 3/4-sleeve black sweater, and with my knee-high black boots. Her response? "WOW! You look GREAT! Very fashionable!" Think of it, ME? Fashionable?

I told her to be honest with me and tell me the TRUTH - like maybe, "Well, they look PRETTY good, but I'd wait until you've lost a little more weight in your knees (or thighs, or stomach, or butt!) to wear them." She didn't waver from her original statement! And this is my THIRTY-TWO year-old friend - not some old fogie like me (64-1/2)! It made me feel very good! I actually felt a little "sassy" after that.

It took a LOT of bravery on my part to even put those leggins ON, much less to wear them out "in public," even though I was just going to see her. But, now, I've got enough confidence that I could definitely wear them to the grocery store, and MAYBE even out to a fancy dinner! Whooda thunk?

...I was afraid of this, @Highland Heather! I actually SHOULD have had my friend take a picture of me last night! I think I might wait until I get the grayest parts of my hair dyed PINK next week, though! For SURE I'll do it when I cross that line into the 170's!

I wear leggings constantly esp as I've gone up and down the scale so many times. They are comfortable. I can't wait for my weight to be perfect to be comfortable now. To be fair, I always wear a long tunic but I think I look better this way than in a pair of pants that don't fit because they are too big or too tight.

@Debbie Cousins, NSV = "Non-Scale Victory." Wearing leggings outside your own bathroom definitely qualifies!

How exciting, am so glad for you! When I wear leggings I always wear a long top for modesty, but it does depend on the thickness or weight of them. Some you can get away with easier. Some you have to wear a top down past the important parts.
