Journal #2 - Lets talk fitness and wildlife attacks!

I have a little extra time before I sprint off to get my son, so I thought I would journal my day thus far. I went to the gym, as planned, and did thirty minutes on the elliptical before I decided I just wasn't feeling it. We've all had those days, right? Just kind of blah, so I decided to call it, and off I went.

On the way home I was wishing I had enough time to get a two mile walk in, but I didn't. Then I thought... I could get a two mile jog in....

After a lengthy argument with myself I decided I was going to go for it. My favorite 2 mile walking trail, jogging edition. Every couple tenths of a mile I thought of reasons why I should stop, but I made it to the one mile point without stopping, and kept on chugging after. As a matter a fact, I didn't stop at all... until I was attacked by a deer. Okay, that's a tad overdramatic, technically it was a stare down. I hollered at her, and she ran off as graceful as ever. I know, we have terrible dangerous wildlife out this way, and I shouldn't be taking chances like that!

The deer accounted for maybe a ninety-second stop, then I took off jogging again, and completed my 2.06 mile jog in 26 minutes. Now I feel like I've accomplished a workout I can be proud of. :-) Hooray Yolanda!

I felt so accomplished, and enthusiastic that it's Friday, that I decided to shower up and wear my hair down. What the what?!?! A woman like me is far too busy for vanity, but not today! Today I am perty lol, hence the new profile picture.

I am bright eyed, bushy tailed, and feeling optimistic about the day as I prepare to head in to work. I hope everyone else is doing well!

I remember a Geico commercial that shows a runner running into a deer. Why I remember that is because it always runs through my mind if I'm on an early morning run. At least, I think it was a Geico commercial...it'd be an old one.

Great post, Yolanda!! I cannot wait (weight) to feel like that again! I feel I look the best that I can with the assets I have...but the weight is just a major issue for me now. AND I'm so sorry I didn't finish this in my 20's! Some days I really ask myself if it's worth the effort -- then I think of a life fat, sick and nearly dead. Yes, fit and fine will be great in my 40's but I just feel like there's been so much wasted time with thighs that rub together! :p I'm glad you won the deer showdown! LOL

You YELLED at BAMBI?!?! I'm calling PETA!! The things you runners do to keep your heart rate up... LOL. I've encountered deer when I was horseback riding .. it wasn't so much a stare down as it was just none of us wanted to move. I had never seen deer so close and I guess they'd never seen anyone not carrying a rifle.

Love it! You did awesome on the run! Even if you did have a deer stare down. :) I always worry about dogs, but don't have to worry too much about deer in town. :) The pic is great too! I like the hair down.

Deer live in my backyard here in suburban Minneapolis! They will not hurt you - but they can run fast! LOL

Aww! You are purrrrdy! Love the pic! Those white tail deer can be scary up close! They are bigger than they look when you see them from a vehicle. Sounds like you are having an energized and positive day! Keep it up!

What is it about those Ohio deer always trying to mess with a girl on the run?!?!?!? If you recall, I nearly totaled out my truck when one jumped in front of me on the way to the Cincinnati Marathon. Glad you got your run in! You're doing great!
