shirfleur 1's Journal, 04 Dec 19

I started cleaning out my closet today. It's pretty easy, as nothing fits. I am keeping my floaty dresses that only touch at the shoulders; I'm just going to rattle around inside them for a while longer despite what some of you have said. HaHa!

I found a pretty purple suede shirt I never could wear because it was too small. Well, now it's too big, but I'm keeping it anyway; I plan to just wear it open, as a jacket. I haven't looked at my pants yet, I'm hoping to find one or two pairs I can wear. I've just about finished one side of the closet and will tackle the other side tomorrow. It's amazing how much clothes I still have, including some work clothes, though I retired almost ten years ago.

Shirfleur! First of all...how big is your closet? 😜 Secondly...you better look at the pants today or they'll also be too big. And last (only because I've already told you what I think of the flowy dresses)- when you get to goal, will you buy new clothes? Or ask for some for Christmas to treat yourself or gift card to pick your own? Unless the 10 year old work clothes are some timeless style... Buy a couple new things. Ok. Done! 💕

Jc, it is fun, and yes, I hadn't thought of it that way, but definitely an NSV!

I have clothes from size 8 to 16. I have clothes that are 30 years old, because styles come and go and come again. I not the best seamtris but I can take up and let out skirts and pants. The good Lord says not to worry about what to wear, so I never have.

Princess, I guess my closet is about ten feet deep, and it's packed pretty tightly (or was, it's better now). As for new clothes, the problem is, off-the-rack clothes don't fit me; apparently I have a very non-standard body. But, I promise that I will make some new clothes when I get to goal. As for pants, I'll check out the latest fashions to see if they appeal to me. Remember, I came of age in the 60s, so I'm something of a free spirit, I wear what I like, not necessarily what's in style at the moment. Also, I have no idea what my 76-year-old body will look like at goal weight, but I'm guessing it will not look like the 46-year-old body I had when I was last at my normal weight. So, we'll see what I have to work with when the time comes. 😁

Sounds like a plan, Stan! 😉

BTW, 200 pounds is my current goal, not my final goal.

I sure hope you find a pair of pants and a shirt to go under the purple one. You might shock people if you leave the house with just a pretty purple shirt open like a jacket 😉. Nice NSV in finding clothes that are too big!

Same, Shirfleur...183 is current goal but I have to reset it to my next one.

Georgia, every time I move (eight times since I sold my house) I get rid of things, so I only have clothes about two sizes down from my start weight here, and, since I've lost over fifty pounds, those are all too big now. Smart of you to have kept your smaller size clothes, you're right, everything comes back in style at some point.

HaHa Peeper, the shock of seeing this poor old body in just an open shirt would probably put some people in the hospital! I have a couple of tanks I can alter, and maybe a pair of pants or two.

That's a great feeling, when everything is too big!

I have a couple 4X long lounge shirts that I still wear around the house. No one sees me in them. I still don't wear tight fitting clothes (I had my 'before regain' clothes stored this time) because I like being comfortable. I have been wearing leggings for years and will probably continue to do so even when I reach goal weight. For now, a long tunic & leggings seems to work for me but I wouldn't reject a professional makeover if y'all wanna give me one for a present. Hahaha.

Thanks Debbie, Alnona, MBD, Diana, Bill, adults and Fritzy. It is fun finding that all the clothes in my closet are too big.
