LSG417's Journal, 26 Feb 18

Not a happy camper today. Frustrated with the fact that I'm doing the right things, but my weight isn't going down. I suppose I have my 49 year old metabolism to thank for that. Mad at myself for letting my weight go so high, so long and not trying harder before age/metabolism has such an effect on it. I knew I would plateau/stall out, just didn't think it would be so soon. I'd be happy to make it down to 140, so I could fit into some of my clothes comfortably. I just don't think I could make such a drastic change in my diet by going Keto. I know it helps folks drop weight quickly, but I don't believe it's a feasible ling term solution. I know I can't give up, but this just puts a damper on my enthusiasm. I could've handled 149, but not 150. I just can't seem to break free of 150!

130 was a really tough wall for me to get over. I totally understand how you are feeling. I'm not doing keto but I have cut out all non-natural in fruits and veggie sugars and bread. I also bumped up my exercise a little. I finally got over it. I know a lot of people fast from 8pm to 1pm a couple of days a week and that seems to do great things too. Good luck, don't give up - you can and will do this!!

slow and steady and you'll get over the plateau. Try dropping even 50 calories or cut out refined sugars for a bit or processed foods if you're eating those. Maybe making a small cut will get it going again. Good luck and don't give up, keep going!

What I have been doing is similar to what jennifer12003 recommends. I looked at my journal and adjusted my intake to lower the calories. Right now I am stalled but I have to do what I know works, which is lower calories and more exercise. Also, don't go by Fatsecret exercise calorie count - see if you can get a fitbit or check at the gym. At 168 pounds, I am holding steady with 1400 calories a day and 5 hours total exercise per week. I started yesterday to stick to my calorie count and to up the exercise to at least 300 calories average per week (measured with a myzone belt not fatsecret). That equals about 7500 steps on a fitbit. Good luck!

There are other ways to lose weight. I reduce portions and do intermittent fasting - eating between 6 or 7am until 2pm. I try to limit (can't eliminate them no matter how hard I try) processed foods. 50 pounds since the end of July

Try lowering your caloric intake and do a little exercise. I'm 50 and was on a 1200 calorie diet, plus walking 7000 steps a day and was able to burn 50 pounds in 4 months. I realize that might be extreme for some, but start counting calories and then reduce them. And any exercise you can do will help.

Thank you for the encouragement and advice. I rarely eat processed foods, altho I did indulge in a couple small pieces of birthday cake a couple days this week. I've been trying to cut out as much added sugar as possible. I try to keep my caloric intake to around 1500 (my blood sugar seems to drop too much if I go much lower.). I've been averaging 3 days a week of exercise, hoping to increase it to at least 4 days. This past week has been rough due to being extremely busy (and tired) at home (painting both boys' bedrooms) on top of my part time job. I'm extremely tired and that may be affecting my weight gain/stall. I really need to increase my water intake and get more rest. I did weigh again later today after breakfast and it said 149, so who knows what is correct.

You have to make yourself a priority! Take the time for yourself and work out a schedule that you can keep for exercise and rest. I know things don't always work the way you want them to but I stopped worrying about the laundry not being done and the rugs not being swept everyday. You have to be healthy and happy to take care of other people.

I have been going thru the same thing. I was 287 a year ago and I’m now 203.2 and I can’t seem to get any lower. I have been at this weight for 4 months now and I refuse to go keto as I don’t want to gain it back (and I most likely will lol. I like carbs too much haha). I have been tried working out 5 days a week (cardio and weight training) just to still see the same number every Wednesday. You’re not alone but don’t give up!!!

Just don't give up! There are a lot of ways of eating that are sustainable and it takes some experimenting to find what will work for you. BTW I've followed low-carb for over 40 years and it has worked as sustainable for me.

Thanks everyone! I'm not giving up! I do low carb, just not Keto low, lol (or restrict fruits & veggies). I got on the scale this morning and it was back down to 149! I realized that last week I had not been drinking my apple cider vinegar & honey. Didn't think it was doing any good, really. But I've made sure to take it several days now, so who knows, maybe it really was helping me lose. I will give some of your other suggestions a try to get a bit more distance from 150.
