204.4 lbs. Too many carbs this week, the result of enjoying too much ice cream several times. Even though I had a calorie deficit there's a gain in weight, that's how my body handles excess sugars/carbs. So goal for this week is no cheats...I've got some ground to make up.

Going to run the clothes closet ministry at my church this morning with my wife, then we're going to lead music for a community wide children's ministry event our youth are doing at a local park. Kind of like a one day vacation bible school. Our youth did this once before on mission in another state but never before locally so we'll see what kind of turnout we get. But when we step out in faith God can do great things. Afterwards is a picnic, it'll be a busy day, I'll have to get in a workout this evening when it's all over.

DDC81 - Simple carbs are quickly converted to sugar in the blood stream, loads us up with glycogen, 1 gram glycogen carries 4 grams water with it. Plus our bodies are not biologically designed to be getting large amounts of sugar and simple carbs, the extra can convert to fat even though we seem to be on a calorie deficit. Affects different people to different degrees but is fairly consistent, sure affects me that way plus I normally consume more protein, when I overdo carbs it skews my macro balance up and it's harder to lose weight. Is that clear as mud? :)

Actually... it's pretty cool what you've explained and it makes a lot of sense! You just convinced me to start paying attention to my carbs intake!!! I've noticed that if I eat bread... I lose less weight or gain some, even on a calorie deficit, but I've thought it's just something that I'm imagining!... THANK YOU!!! This is really cool stuff for me ;) ! :)

That is not a big gain and 204 really looks good on you. Ice Cream is a downfall of mine also. I found some Beyers Carb control ice cream that is very good. I have only seen it in Vanilla, but it satisfies my hunger for ice cream.

buy an ice cream maker ( the kind you just plug in) and check out the gazillion low carb ice cream recipes on pinterest using heavy cream and eggs. I have been testing some recipes for the kids and most of them come out like frozen custard which they say is delish. you can customize flavors to make your faves.Then you can indulge at home and not blow the diet.

Thanks everyone. Nicholaix I have one of those so that's a thought. My problem would still be control as I'd need to be reasonable in portion control which is an issue for me with it. But I just picked up some ice cream salt last week to have ready so I'll give it a shot.

That's one way to contol portions Glen. Actually there is hope for me. My wife bought some ice cream bars and hid them in the back of the freezer. I haven't touched them. Yet. :)
