Fritzy 22's Journal, 28 Jan 24

Weight is exactly the same as last Sunday. First week in 2024 without a loss. It was too many saltines, some with butter and peanut butter and also making 2 or 3 slices of toast in the middle of one night. Hope to do better this week. I had planned on a baked potato with butter and cheese for breakfast. Found a 6 ounce potato last night to bake. Put the potato in the toaster oven then changed my mind and had a piece of rye roast. Still cooking the potato. Hope to have half tomorrow and half on Wednesday. But the day is young.

I've walked the last 3 days. First drove with Bobby to the park in town, 7 miles from my house. Walked around the blacktop loop for almost 30 minutes. Did not enjoy it. There were too many other people with dogs. Bobby doesn't like other dogs when he is on a leash. The 2nd day I walked on a dirt trail in my neighborhood. It only took 20 minutes to do the loop. Lots of up and down areas, one steep enough to have a hand rail. The orthopedist said walk on a level surface but it's really hard to find where I live. Yesterday we just walked from my house for 40 minutes. The best walk so far, about as level as there is in the neighborhood.

Same can be good. I have those for sure. Glad you found something level to walk on. I am sure Bobby was happy too.

Thanks Liv. I really would rather walk on the dirt trail, it seems easier on the knee than concrete or blacktop. My knee is feeling fine regardless. Bobby loves walking especially on the dirt trail where he thinks he has to sniff every single leaf

I get to walk dogs this week. I am excited. They are big and drag me along. Did you get your knee appointment yet?

Liv, I have my 2nd appointment with the orthopedist on Friday. I expect he'll go over the MRI with me. From what I've read about "floating cartilage" I don't seem to have any of the symptoms

Ohh nice. I do not know that much about knee issues but I think floating cartilage has a wide range of possibilities. Anyways all of this will be cleared up when you see your orthopedist. Jot down your questions.

I lot saltines with butter and peanut butter but they stall me too. Love toast too and it also stalls me. Good job on the walking. No place level to walk here much either.

I realized yesterday that my main goal with losing weight is so I can eat peanut butter again.

Thanks Morticia! I love Ritz crackers even more than Saltines. I still have a little more than 1 sleeve of Saltines left, which isn't bad for me since the box has been in the pantry at least 2 or 3 weeks. Did the same walk today as yesterday adding another 10 minutes, about 52 minutes total. I was tired,my knee didn't bother me so much but I was getting out of breath because I really haven't been doing much since March he end of October.

Liv, the only time I overeat peanut butter is when I put it on crackers and usually I keep crackers out of the house. Sometimes I'll make half a peanut butter sandwich, no jelly and no more than 2 tablespoons of peanut butter. When I was younger I'd make grilled peanut butter sandwiches instead of grilled cheese.

I like toast with peanut butter for breakfast. I use Sarah Lee Delightful bread which is low calorie and PB peanut butter powder. Lots less fat.

I don't eat peanut butter that much, only when my fat grams are low ..have you tried the powdered peanut butter? I've been thinking about trying it.

Thanks Gillian. I used to put peanut butter on English muffins and sometimes toast. Don't really eat it often.

Thanks Diana I don't eat it all that often. My fats are never that low, especially now that I'm focussing on carbs. Powdered peanut butter doesn't sound good to me. I like having a jar of peanut butter in the pantry.

I’m the same as you as far as when I walk, I prefer to walk alone, not around a bunch of people. And I can totally understand your dog issue, too. I walk in my neighborhood as well. It’s peaceful.

Ask doc about inserts for your shoes when you see doc. Might help and inexpensive.

PB is just roasted peanuts crushed into a powder to remove fat. It is and tastes just like peanut butter.

I should probably add that you add water to it to the consistency you like. You don't eat it as a powder.

Thanks Stormsgirl! Bobby loves people when we are out walking, as long as they don't have a dog with them. A couple people call him by name and come over to pet him. He loves it. But when they are dogs , I often stop walking and just keep saying " no bark, no bark and ill give you a cookie". He's getting good about not barking. I don't like when I am enjoying a nice walk with beautiful scenery and people are walking behind me talking. It seems like I can hear them for blocks. I walk slower than most people so I often just wait for them to pass me.

Thanks Kat. I can ask him about inserts but I really am not experiencing any issues, even after walking nearly an hour today. I bought an expensive pair of walking shoes and put them on for any walks I do now. I really am wondering why I am supposed to walk on a level surface. I enjoy the dirt trail, it seems easier on my legs but it is not at all level.
