Fritzy 22's Journal, 21 Jan 24

Happy again this week to have met my 1 pound minimum loss. 6.8 pounds so far this month, very unusual for me. Working on keeping carbs below 100 grams is really keeping me on track. I am actually able to resist foods that I usually can't keep in the house. I still have half a box of saltines that I left alone. Bread is my biggest weakness. I bought a loaf of Schwarzwalder rye bread (dark brown)that was on sale. I love it as toast. I remember when I first started logging my food on FS, 2017 or 2018, I had 4 or 5 slices of toast once because I couldn't resist it. Yesterday I had one slice and the loaf is back in the freezer!

Yesterday I entered today's food plan and will update as needed. When I got up this morning I wanted a cup of coffee instead of the warm milk I had planned. Will make scrambled eggs with green onions and mushrooms and a tablespoon or 2 of shredded cheddar cheese. Will make chicken breast using breadcrumbs, trying to follow SherryeB's (not sure of name exactly) directions. Bought some more panko breadcrumbs and saw there are also parmesan flavored - maybe next time. I have blackberries and pineapple spears I need to finish. Trying to increase calories a little. I can keep calories low to lose weight but know I won't be able to do it forever. It's easy to increase calories when using olive to cook in 2 meals! Want to saute the onions and mushrooms before adding to eggs. I have an olive oil spritzer I use just to scramble eggs.

Walked Bobby yesterday. Didn't drive to a level area, just walked from my house. There were some minor inclines and declines. Walked 30 minutes, pretty slow. The knee ached just a little. It rained on and off most of the day at times really heavy. So I managed to walk when it briefly stopped raining. Same weather today and tomorrow.

I guess your area need some rain ... Glad you got out. So wonderful that you are losing weight so easily. I also feel pretty grateful and somewhat astonished when this happens to me. Drinking my coffee as we speak!

Thanks Liv! The last time I was losing weight quickly was when I eliminated processed food almost completely for a couple of months. I'm not doing that now but think maybe limiting g carbs is helping. We do need rain this time of year. It doesn't rain from about May through September.. I just decided to have a 2nd cup of coffee and am enjoying it!

Yay, for meeting your goal again this week! I think reducing carbs works cause so many are higher calories. When I first started, I didn't count carbs, but I replaced things like potatoes, pasta & rice with more veggies & watched portions of bread. I usually have half a bagel for breakfast, but I limited sandwiches & ate my hamburgers minus the bun. After meeting the goal, I added those back in, I just watch portion sizes. Lately, my desserts after dinner have been a little higher calorie than they should be. I need to cut back since I haven't been able to lose those few lbs. over goal, I've picked up 🙄

Thanks Sherry - I bought a 5 pound bag of russet potatoes, not sure why. I just decided I would roast half of one that I weighed at 6 ounces with the chicken today. Meant I had to skip the blackberries to keep carbs within my goal. I used to have 1/4 bagel with cream cheese every morning. Did it for at least 3 years until I got tired of them. Don't think there is any bread in my food plan today.. Your food pictures always make me think of what I may be able to eat like once I reach maintenance!

is it easy to count carbs? do u just look at nutrition label & count the carb for portion you ate? Thnx!

Loveheart, I find it easy to track carbs when I log all my food here on FS. I track carbs so the numbers show when I enter food. I weigh or measure everything, for example 2 tablespoons of pumpkins seeds or 1/4 cup of bread crumbs. I try to enter what I plan on eating for the day in advance and then make adjustments as needed.
