Fritzy 22's Journal, 23 Jan 24

Woke up at 3am, again. I guess it's not surprising since I fell asleep around 8 or so. Cats and Bobby are still driving me crazy at night. Especially the cats. I locked them in my master bedroom after feeding them around 5 pm. Then I felt it was too early so I opened the door around 7pm. Fritzy followed me and Bobby to the guest room. By 3am, all three cats were laying next to me or on me waiting for breakfast.

Going for the knee MRI later this morning- dreading it. Then taking Bobby to the groomer at 1pm.

Watching carbs, keeping them below 100 grams is getting tougher. I know for many people on this site that is not low carb but it is in general and certainly for me. About a week ago I found the last bottle of cranberry juice in the garage refrigerator and it's almost impossible to fit in even a 4 ounce glass. I had 2 mugs of coffee this morning and forgot to measure the sugar for the first cup. Since I liked it so much better than I have recently I guessed there was an extra teaspoon. I also baked half of an 8 ounce potato in the toaster oven after cutting it in quarters. Brushed butter on each quarter. So at least I'm not hungry. I've posted milk and string cheese as snacks for later in the day, but have no idea what I will eat later today.

I was thinking about the cats the other day wondering how they were doing. Sounds like they like their food. Good job doing the MRI. Hope all goes well and you have a good day

Thanks Liv! My cats are not finicky eaters at all! I get treated to episodes of "The Starving Cat Show" several times a day. Just want to get the MRI over with.

Actually 100gm of net carbs a day is low carb. There are a lot of low carb plans that are a lot more liberal than others. It is not Keto or Atkins but still low carb as anything under 150gms of net carbs a day is low carb. Love your cats.

Thanks Morticia, I'm aiming for maximum total carbs, not net carbs of 100 grams. I started don't with net, but didn't like seeing total grams over 100. I can see why you would stop eating much processed food and why !ow carb can end up being high fat. When I'm going crazy looking for a snack I end up going for a few nuts or pumpkin seeds. My cats are very entertaining when they aren't driving me crazy and annoying me

I too follow the 100 carbs a day and like you, it’s total carbs, not net carbs. I do not do keto either. My carbs lately have been in the 70 ish grams a day and you are right about processed foods. I had a fiber one brownie yesterday. Totally processed and it gave me a stomach ache. Today back to my usual clean foods. Glad you are getting the MRI. Keep us posted! 💜

If you want snacks you may have to figure out what high protein snacks you like. I often do jello. But you can do zero fat dairy here

Or high fiber. Those are good.. like adding some seeds or berries to the yogurt...

Liv, non fat milk has 9 grams of protein and nearly 12 grams of carbs. So if I'm close to my total carbs for the day I don't want more many on or the berries. I did have a tablespoon of sunflower seeds for a snack in the day. I usually eat nuts early in the day but may save them for later. I never eat yogurt anymore. I log snacks for the day like a low fat mozzarella cheese stick. Just having trouble keeping the carbs where I want them.

Thanks Diana, I would love to have the carbs between 60-70 grams but it's tough. 2 cups of skim milk has 22 grams of carbs, but I drink it for the protein. Well, I'm new st this, so I'm still figuring bit out. I've already figured out that buying a 5 pound bag of potatoes and a package of breaded chicken patties wasn't the best idea. Even cutting a potato into a 4 ounce piece was over 20 grams.
