Got back from vacation a few days ago. Started the low fat WOE yesterday. Not sure how long I'll last on this. I'm not going to the grocery store until tomorrow. Yesterday I had peas and kidney beans to get some protein, an English muffin for breakfast with jam instead of butter. I measured the half and half I put into my coffee just to make sure I wasn't getting more than I thought. 2 tablespoons is just what I had been estimating and that's what I measured.

There is only one baby wild turkey this year coming to my yard. The past 2 years there were so many - 30-40, but this year all but one of the hens are without babies. The baby and mama have been coming to my yard and deck daily to look for bird food. While I was gone my house sitter told me she let Bobby out back and didn't realize the mama turkey and baby were in the yard. She said mama flew over the fence and then panicked because the baby was still in the yard. She said Bobby didn't get to the baby, he stopped running when she called to him. But I haven't seen the baby since I got home. I double checked with the house sitter to make sure Bobby hadn't hurt him. She said no, the baby was able to fly out of the yard. I think maybe mama and baby are afraid to come back here. The things I worry about!

I didn't do too badly on my trip as far as eating - mostly because we only had one meal most days. Had breakfast out one day (French toast and scrambled eggs!) but on the other days it was just coffee. I had fish and chips once, Chinese food once and a French dip the other day. In all cases I wasn't able to eat more than half the meal. I'm glad my friend didn't mind the way I eat - a late lunch and nothing for dinner. But there were leftovers which she was able to eat but I ended up throwing mine away.

Pretty impressive that you could throw the leftovers away. Not me, I’d eat them the next day. Don’t you remember those “starving children” in China.

Thanks Sarah - There was a tiny refrigerator in the motel room - not room for much. I did bring the French dip back to the room but didn't get a chance to eat it. The other meals I didn't bother getting a box for the left overs. On the last evening there we ate at a food court in the local casino. I could only eat 1/4 of the calzone. I did bring the rest home the next day and my friend and I each had 1/4 of it for dinner and I finished it off the next day. I think restaurant portions are the reason so many of us get fat if we think what we are served is a reasonable portion to eat! Thanks Wifey - the one meal a day really made a difference and no junk food in the motel room, just some cheese and crackers and we didn't finish that either!
