A few more days before I leave on my road trip to the Oregon coast. IF I go. The friend who is going with me is flying in from Utah and then staying with me for a night before we get on the road. After this trip was scheduled she texted me to let me know she had eye surgery to repair a torn retina. The doctor will let her know tomorrow if she can fly. If she can't go, at least I'll have a clean house!

About a week before I go on a vacation I don't buy groceries. No sense having milk or fruit and veggies that may go bad while I am gone. So right now I don't have much to eat in the other than canned and frozen foods. And a box of Grape Nuts. I will go to the grocery store before I leave to have some things in the house for the house/pet sitter. She tells me I don't have to do that. But I've always had a Papa Murphy's pizza in the fridge for her to cook and I leave a note of what there is that she can help herself to, and she usually does use what I tell her I got for her.

Walked with Bobby 12 minutes today. I think I know at what point the pain in my leg will start. The physical therapist said to add a minute each day until I get pain and then back down a minute or two and do that for a few days before trying to increase the time. I think when I reach the place where I have to go up a hill is when I'll get pain. If that happens I'll have to find more level places to walk for awhile.

just a suggestion if she hasn't already done it. have her look at the mechanics of your gait on both flats and an incline. since you've been hurting, you might be walking in a way that causes the pain.

Thanks Kat - I'll ask her tomorrow. She has watched me walk up and down stairs.

Kat - at my physical therapy appointment I asked her to watch me walk the distance of the room and back. She told me I took a longer step with my left leg, and a much shorter step with the right, which is my weak leg. She also said I moved my right hip up a little. I told her that was my "sashay".

I love that you leave goodies for the sitter - just a really nice gesture. Though I would probably pick up fruit during the week before you leave, since it's only good for about 3 days anyway (you'll likely eat it all before it goes bad). Otherwise you may be tempted to eat fast food. Do you have an eating plan for your trip?

lol, Fritzy. that reminds me of the song that goes something about when I walk this way all the boys look my way... or something like that. did she suggest you work on any part of it? they had my mom work on her gait after her surgery.

Thanks Liv - the trip is on, my friend flies in tomorrow and we start driving Sunday morning. Bananas - I went to the store today and got the pizza and some snacks for the petsitter. I picked up some grapes to eat on the long car drive and some Hawaiian bread dinner rolls - maybe we'll stop at rest stops instead of fast food places on the drive there and back. Depends on what my friend wants to do. I bough some swiss cheese and some chicken breast in the deli section to make tiny little sandwiches with the dinner rolls. No special eating plan for the trip. I usually gain a pound or two, but my last trip (with my sister) I either lost a pound or stayed the same. We usually stop for fast food on the drive, but I didn't get any fries on that trip which really helps. The only time I eat fish and chips (which I usually love) is when I go to the coast. So I may have that for one meal. I usually eat just 2 meals a day, breakfast and a late lunch. My friend is okay with that.

Katsolo - The physical therapist just told me to keep doing the stretches. I keep getting sore in different spots - all around the hip and thigh so I feel like I'm doing something wrong, but she says I'm just getting tight muscles to loosen up. Ice really helps as well.

Bananas - I have been eating grapes this week - I froze a bunch of them after you suggested it. I really like them!

Fritzy, when you leave snakes for the sitter, it makes them come to your home with a smile and keeps them in a good mood.👍👏👏😁 Have fun on your trip and be safe.🌺☀️

I have never tried leaving snakes for the sitter before, shrewd, I’ll bet that would keep them out of the booze.

Katsolo, you’ve given me the very best laugh of the year!!😁🤣🤣😂 I am literally crying!!!😂😂😂 Of course I meant snakes, Just a box of snakes, what’s worse than a box full of snakes? A box that was SUPPOSED to be full of snakes. And now, if the snakes kill It would be called a cold blooded murderer. OUT…. Thanks for the best laugh ever, (protecting your booze)!😁
