Fritzy 22's Journal, 10 May 22

I knew I would be in Onederland only briefly. I'm up a little, but not really worried. My weight really fluctuates wildly during the day and from day to day. I did have a few things I shouldn't thanks to coupons my grocery store sent me (they know exactly what I can't resist). There was a coupon for the Hagendaz ice cream bars and I bought and consumed 3 of them last week. Also a coupon for a litre bottle of Pepsi and of course I couldn't resist that. But yesterday I was back to making stir fry in my wok.

After reading one of Katsolo's post I made a smart remark about how one cup of coffee makes me gain about 2 pounds. It just feels like it that's why I never weigh myself if I eat or drink anything before weighing. So today a science project. I weighed myself (that's the only reason I posted my weight). Then I weighed the mug, almost 13 ounces and I'll weigh it again after the coffee is ready. Total mug weight with coffee - minus initial mug weight equals the weight of the coffee. If I was in 5th grade this science project would probably get me a C if I'm lucky (never had any ideas for science projects). After I drink the coffee (I'm sure it's getting cold) I'll weigh myself again.

Okay, I guess I'd flunk 5th grade science. I weighed the finished coffee cup after I added half and half and sugar and it was 27 ounces (1 pound 11 ounces), minus the mug of 13 ounces, I drank 14 ounces (in weight) of coffee. I stepped on the scale and my weight was up 1.2 pounds. Since 14 ounces isn't even a pound, I shouldn't weigh 1.2 pounds more. I was wearing the exact same thing - just jammies.

so I read through some of your posts... and I gotta say that I love how real you are ❤ keep on pushing, you've got this!! I was gonna try to follow you, but for some reason it says I can't follow anyone else right now... not sure how this app works, but eventually I would like to follow you. Your realness is refreshing. Not overly peppy or positive, but not a downer either... just normal.

Awareness is the biggest part of this effort. Sounds like you have it! Don’t let those dang hagendaz bars get you down. They served there purpose and now you’re ready to excel past them 😉

Put the empty cup on the scale, zero it and pour your coffee in. Don’t make this so hard for yourself

Kenna - I think what I did worked. I weighed the empty mug, then weighed the mug with the coffee in it. The difference is the weight of the coffee I drank. Thanks Moman8 - I looked at your profile and nothing can be seen unless I follow you. I never follow anyone when I can't read their profile. Not sure why you can't follow whoever you want. Thanks Sarah - Not sure if you are referring to weighing myself after drinking coffee. But I've always wondered why I seem to weigh so much more after having just a few sips of water. Thanks TJ - I know it will take a couple of days before the impact from the Hagendaz bars and Pepsi go away. At least it wasn't a pack of 6!

Fritzy— zeroing the cup out just keeps you from having to do the math

Fritzy you are overthinking this. You are going to drive yourself nuts.

I think Fritzy was just trying to make a point. If you eat or drink anything before weighing, you will weigh more. Thats why I always weigh myself naked, after I've peed & before I drink even a sip of water.

Fritzy, I was told, some years back, rhat the best way is to weigh yourself first thing in the morning after fiest restroom visit, completely naked, everyday and take the average for the week as your weight. This is too much for some to do, but it has worked for me. I'm not always consistent, but it's what I do most of the time. I am thinking you really did not gain 2 pounds. Consuming any type of food gets all of your juices going, which showing up on the scale as weight gain, when it's just your body doing its thing to digest what you ate/drank. All that to say, please don't get discouraged. 💖

Kenna - I'm done thinking about it. I just explained what I did. Thanks Sherrye - I do the same thing when I weigh myself except I am wearing very light undergarments. Thanks Ccandco - I'm not discouraged. I know what to expect by now. When I eat more than I should it takes a few days for the scale to get back to normal. I don't weigh myself every day. But most days.

and I usually follow sherry's method, I was just curious one day and followed through. I weigh once daily, that's it, and focus on other things. for me alone, it keeps me accountable without being obsessive.

It can be so hard to resist things like ice cream. Grocery stores, coupons really entice people. Keep up the good work, you seem to have a lot of awareness.

Thanks Katsolo - Sometimes I get obsessive when I want to lose weight so badly. I'll weigh myself several times a day. But I haven't done that recently. I pretty much know how this goes. Right now I weigh myself most mornings unless I drink water or coffee without thinking in the morning. I try to post my weight once a week, but often forget that unless I'm showing a loss. Thanks alfredo - I'm really not worried. I think people are misunderstanding my post. I usually do intermittent fasting, eating from when I get up around 6-7am until 2pm or so.

Thanks Missamy - my grocery store always sends me coupons for things I've bought. I usually use all of them. Some are good like bananas and mushrooms and brussels sprouts. The "bad" ones I usually can't resist.

Good to know you're not discouraged Fritzy. 👍 I should have known better, since you're a tough cookie.🍪 💕

Digestion is (actually) an inflammatory response! (Some inflammation is GOOD.). Digestion related-inflammation can easily account for .4 pounds. Also, I second SherryB and Katsolo's method. I also weigh in after elimination (not everyone goes in the morning, but I do.). Experiments are a great way to get to know your body. You wouldn't have flunked 5th grade science - don't be so hard on yourself!

Thanks for sharing your experiment! Curious minds want to know, right? Good for you👍

@Fritzy I just signed up on here last night and I am not sure how to navigate this app yet... I made sure my thing was set to where everyone can see, but then I got a pop-up a while later saying to share with everyone. So hit accept or allow or whatever it was. Idk.

Moman8r, when you first sign up, the app limits the amount of people you can follow within a certain time span. Keep trying and you will be able to add the next set of people/accounts. 👍 ⏲️ 😊
