Lent fast update. I've been doing a modified fast. I am drinking a few calories in the form of skinny cocoa and beef broth, as well as non-caloric drinks, mostly water. Under 300 calories is the aim. I am working on a six day fast each week with a nutritious refeed on Sundays. I'm feeling good; keeping my electrolytes up. Walking every day has been a bit tricky due to March weather - rain, snow and wild winds. This is day 4 of week 2. I'm facilitating a poetry writing workshop tomorrow, so I have a day of reading poetry planned, to select some poems to read and phrases to use as prompts.
I'm sitting by a crackling fire with 6" of fresh snow outside. If it weren't for war in Ukraine, my world would seem pretty good, but I am thinking of all those who are suffering.
90.0 kg Lost so far: 37.0 kg.    Still to go: 0 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.

It’s on my mind daily too, prayers daily to all those affected. I’m inspired by your Lent fast- a week at a time is really something! I’m doing a 72 hr water fast 2x a month (am on day 2 now) just a decaf bulletproof coffee in the afternoons. You don’t find the broth makes you hungry? And what do you use for a ‘skinny cocoa’?

It is hard not to think about Ukraine for sure. Hope your day goes well. Hope your workshop goes very well. It sounds like a great thing. Joining you in hoping for better weather

Thank you REM and Liv. My cocoa is simply 1 Tbs of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 Tbs of Heavy Whipping cream and a half dropperful of hazelnut stevia. It's 1 net carb, so doesn't spike blood sugar. It keeps me on track.

That is quite a fast! I've done 72 hour fasts and usually feel pretty good. For me, if it's liquid I count it as a fast so hot cocoa or tea, etc is okay. I usually keep the TV on all day watching mostly cable news, but the war in Ukraine is so upsetting I am limiting watching the news to 30 minutes or so a day. So now I've got the Golf channel on.

Thank you everyone. I decided that the 5 year old picture should be updated. I'm blessed with late-graying genetics, so at 67, I've still got my natural color.
