mrsmole's Journal, 12 Jun 14

Day 4 of eating under 1300 calories in an effort to get to 199 by the 4th of July. Not bloody likely at this rate, but I'm not going to give up and I'm also not going to stress about it.

That being said, I do feel like cussing about it. It may take me 2 more years at .25 pounds a week to lose the next 60 pounds, but so ####ing what? I can see my final Journal entry now:

First 72 pounds: 10 months
Final 60 pounds: 2 years

I'll only be 53, and just think how well ingrained these habits will be after 3 YEARS of doing it! LOL. If I haven't killed anyone by then.

To be fair, the last time I went on a drastic cut, it took my body 4 days to "get the message" and actually start losing weight, and I was flat for the first 4 days, just like this time. I recall being discouraged then, too. I may even go back and read what I wrote (if anything). Not sure if I was Journaling then or not.

In any case, I will do what I have to. Already hit the gym 3 times this week and walked every day like a freakin zombie with the dogs at 5AM when it's still only 85 degrees here and not too hot for either of us to have our daily walkies.

I could understand if I was eating poorly or cheating with pizza or cake, but that's not the case, so I get a little sanctimonious and incensed. CR, PU, NM: just give me a smiley face and that will be our "code" that I know what you're thinking and you can save your fingertips the trouble of the typing. Sometimes, we all need to vent, okay? I know I'll get there.

I sure understand the frustration. All you can do is your best, step by step you can reach your goal. Whenever it is that happens think how it will feel. What a glorious day that will be!

Everyday is a glorious day!!! If you look at the world that way. Celebrate your small victories and they will add up over time to the larger one.

I agree with you and NM. Body must be adjusting , you really are putting effort into losing and the weight has no choice but to drop off. Good for you and keep it up!!

Draglist, you're on! Let's shoot off some serious fireworks in celebration of that 199! I'd love for us both to get there at the same time. The only difference will be that I will leave you there and keep going. You will maintain, you lucky dog. Now let's get to Independence Day!

I'm pulling for you! I can imagine it is very frustrating when you are being SO good. I guess just be patient a bit longer and if it still isn't coming off, go back to a slightly higher RDI and see what happens. You are so right, though, that your good habits will be so ingrained that you'll KEEP doing great. If it weren't for the cost of new clothes, I think I would just stay at approx. the RDI I've been at into the future. I think it will be fun trying to figure out a maintenance RDI.

Going thru same thing. Cut back to 1300 last week. No loss last week. Body finally figured it out. Showing a loss for this week. Hang in there - it does get better. Have a great weekend.

Being in your 50s, your metabolism will definitely be slower than someone in their 20s (sorry for the downer). But definitely keep working out, especially weightlifting/strength training, because that will add muscle, which will help to increase your metabolism. You could also try eating only 500 calories less than you burn a day. Maybe the extreme calorie deficit you're doing now is making your body think you're starving, and is holding onto every calorie you eat and storing it as fat to keep you alive. A 500 calorie deficit may only be 1 lb a week, but that's more than what you're currently losing (tough love).

please don't stress about it. It's counterproductive. I'll post about that in a bit in my journal. But please please do not stress about it.

Patience, my dear. At one point FS told me I would reach my goal in "78 months" or something based on the rate I have been losing. But you know, I am LOSING. And even though you might not be at your goal, your are getting leaner and fitter every day. :)

Wow...I could have written this entry! I feel your pain but I can only hope that this "stalemate" is temporary for us both. Hang in there!
