Does this sound familiar?

"Why aren't I losing weight? I'm not cheating!" I know I sounded like a broken record for almost two weeks there, but after twelve long days of being "stuck" at the same weight, I finally broke the plateau. Yay!

Well, folks, it turns out that if you are patient enough, and you eat a couple of prunes, one day, like magic, you suddenly lose 2.5 pounds overnight.

Go figure.

Human bodies are stupid and fickle sometimes, I swear.

Now the trick will be to still be this weight on Friday morning. Since my revelation of yesterday where I figured out that I only expend about 1800 calories per day, I can have about 1000-1200 and lose about 1 to 1.5 pounds a week. That's fine, I'll take it for now.

Thanks again for all the support from the gang on here. It helps so much to get comments from others who also struggle.

Awesome. We're not a closed system. There's so much fluctuation. I ate out of the diet yesterday (as you know, oh, wise monitor) and I FOUND YOUR 2.5 pounds. LOL! I know what it is though and it will go away in about 2 days. I can't thank you enough for your help and support. At the tail end of the weight loss and I was getting so edgy. You helped a lot.

My husband read somewhere that women's hormones are what cause us to plateau and gain weight for no good reason, but that continued effort isn't remotely wasted. It just may take us on a more circuitous route than men.

12 days is not a real plateau.

Are you drinking enough water?

Seeing that same number in the scale after sticking to your diet and exercise plan initially feels like someone just kicked you in the stomach. But then, personally, I just tell myself that my body will just catch up since I am doing pretty much everything to get healthier already. Congrats on surpassing the plateau! =)

Maybe 12 days isn't a TRUE plateau, but when every day is a struggle and you aren't cheating at ALL, 12 days feels like an eternity. But I just knew that giving up would make it worse. There is a certain reward in the waiting. Every day was like, "Will today be the day that it breaks?" I am very goal-oriented. I'm not an instant gratification person. I'm willing to work for my rewards, but I do need to see progress to keep my spirits up. I've gone 132 days without cheating on this diet or overeating, so I'm not about to start now. It really helps to be able to vent here. Thanks to all who listen and chime in! P.S. Drinking tons of water. P.P.S. The prunes did help move things along.
