59Carol's Journal, 13 Feb 21

This morning's new weight feels better. Last week I was feeling irritated that I had to log in a gain and one that was in the 180s. I knew I had eaten well all week and that the weights throughout the week had indicated a pound loss. This week is a course correction. I lost 2 pounds. Essentially last week's pound and this week's pound. I did log in weights as much as a pound less than this morning's weigh in, however, I see that as the harbinger of things to come. I am well satisfied with this morning's loss especially because it just plain makes sense!

We have been in quite the deep freeze in northern Canada this week. Temperatures were about -40F with wind-chill in the -60F. I saw Liv bundled up for a cold morning walk. I must confess that when my walking partners flinched so did I! I only went walking yesterday when the temperature appeared to be rising - I should have worn a balaclava and put on one more layer - for an hour. Today I am planning a walk with my sister.

My basement renovations continue along. This week I put all my books on the shelves. Alphabetized, of course! The letters will be painted blue when it is all done. This picture shows half the shelving. There are 4 units. Then there are another set of four shelves for my husband's CD collection. That is what I am working on this weekend. To give you an idea - I have 25 plastic milk crates each filled to the brim with CDs to sort, dust and shelve alphabetically!

Love the letters - so easy to move when the need dictates. You need to work on getting some Q books!

Carol, you are doing great! I am in love with your bookshelves! ❤ And your organizational skills, I envy tremendously. How wonderful to have your husband's cd collection.

Hurray for the drop, it was just a matter of time! I love books, when I had a house I even had bookshelves in my attic. Sadly, I had no room for them when I moved, so now my books live on my Kindle, not nearly so satisfying. Your alphabet is lovely, as are your shelves of books.

After my divorce....My present husband threw out my bookshelves and lots of books and magazines. A year ago, we sold about 5 crates of albums/vinyl and lots of cds & books. Very sad, but have less clutter. I still have lots of books, music books/sheets, cds, but no magazines nor vinyl.

Wow! That's alot of work! It looks great!!! I'd love to have a library wall in my home! Great job on the weight loss! I was wondering when it's that cold does it hurt your lungs to breathe? Do you breathe through a scarf? We got snow too and if course not as cold as you have but it hurt my eyes at first when I went outside this morning. I needed sunglasses it was so bright!

Thank you all for your wonderful comments about my book shelves. I am not a librarian but I love books. We had to get rid of a lot of books when we had a basement flood a few years ago and then this summer I did a hard 'weed' on them and put aside almost a third of my books for a charity book sale - after COVID. So this is a small collection for me. My husband was an audiophile. I did get rid of the cassette tapes however I have kept all the vinyl and CDs.

Bearnoggin I don't find it hard to breathe at -40. When it gets colder than that I have a balaclava that has a net by my mouth which seems to make it warmer but it also ices up from my warm breath. It is like so many things - you have to dress for it. Our sunlight isn't as intense in the winter so it isn't until a spring snowfall that the sun hurts when it reflects off the snow. I associate that feeling more with spring skiing! I had a lovely walk with my sister yesterday but it had warmed up quite a bit - 13F.
