I've been excited to get started with LCHF and get these pounds off. But today turned out to be quite a bubble buster to my happy bubble. I have Meniere's Disease, it's an inner ear disease that causes hearing loss, vertigo, dizziness, pain and tinnitus. Today I had a severe vertigo/dizziness attack, fell on stairs and ended up in the ER. I fractured my left kneecap and damaged my LCL ligament. Now I'm in a thigh to ankle brace and have to stay off my feet for at least 3 weeks, then see where the healing is at.
All I can think is how much it will slow down my weight loss becoming basically immobile. I know I can still do some upper body, this just really put a damper on things for me. The only upside to today was when I got on the scale at the hospital, it read 322, 8 pounds down in 3 days. When I got home, I got on the scale here and it said the same. I'm sure it's mostly water weight, but it made me smile.
I hope everyone is having a happy & satisfying day. :)

Whoo hoo! Now, don’t listen to your friends or your own mind—stay off that knee so it has an opportunity to heal. Weight-bearing prevents or reduces revascularization.

even when your sitting down just do some belly crunches and upper body exercises..don't be discouraged consider it a minor set back. you'll be on your feet soon.. I understand your pain I broke my kneecap when I was 14 by dancing lol just a lil humor but true I had a cast from thigh to ankle and I lived in a 3rd flr. for 3 months and I gained so much weight but once I felt better I was out and about..so keep your head up. and praying for a speedy recovery.

Such a bummer, but don’t think you can’t get weight loss because you aren’t working out. I was doing a LCHF group with exercise and about a month into the group I injured my back and couldn’t do the workouts. I was surprised to still see inches dropping off...especially around my waist. If you stick to the LCHF eating you will get results!

Congrats on the weight loss, but oh gosh...so sorry you got injured like that. I wish for you a speedy recovery. Be good to yourself while going through this trying time. I did read on Diet Doctor that you still lose weight with no exercise on LCFT. Happy continued pounds lost!

I'm so sorry about your accident! Very good weight loss, though, and i'm sure you will maintain, or continue to lose, if you just watch what you eat and do what exercise you can without using your leg. Right now, healing is the most important thing. Take good care of yourself.

Wow sorry for your pain and situation! Hopefully your all mended in the time span allotted. Remember it's 80% diet 20% exercise so don't fret about that if you stay on plan you'll still see a drop in the 3 weeks!
