I find that my happiness and weight loss success is related to the battle against clutter. If my house is in order, it's easier to keep my life in order, and easier to stick to my diet program. so here's a fun opportunity. It's a daily task for the month of January to help us accomplish peace of mind through de-cluttering and house cleaning. Thought you all might enjoy a little January project! I'm in!

I'm off to sort through, clean out and organize my kitchen utensil (junk!) drawer!

I've taken 4 boxes of "stuff" to the local thrift store and tossed other "stuff" since we started installing the new floors last week. Still purging. Feels good.

rhontique- Yeah, nothing like having to move everything out of a room to find out what's really in there! I cleared out my porch for the renovation and found stuff that my mom had stowed 20 years ago - LOL! It's good to get to the bottom of things. Then I got down on my hands and knees and scrubbed the slate floor with a sanding sponge. It's a whole new color! Houses - they are a never ending battle, just like health and weight!

Sanding sponge? Wow - we need that in our tile entryway - where do you but that? Home Depot? Hmmm

Any paint dept. or store. it's sand paper bonded to a sponge. I used it with Murphy's oil soap. It loosened up the grunge in the grout lines and cleaned the tiles nicely, then I mopped three times to get the dirt lifted off. I'm planning to seal it next with a stone sealer, but got interrupted by the holidays. Maybe next weekend.

Great ideas...I agree that when my house is in order, I function better all the way round. I organized my kitchen a couple of weeks ago and I even enjoy cooking more as I know where everything is...there is a lot to this decluttering one's life...have a few people I need to also consider..(lol)

I am in total agreement! I am madly purging my house and trying to get to that place of balance and serenity. Everything works better when the house is clutter free.

I just did my kitchen utensil drawer the other day. It was so full things would get stuck and you couldn't open/close it without pushing things down. I threw a bunch away that we NEVER use and I'll be darned, when my husband opened it the first time he said, "hey where'd those tongs go?" I said which ones, the broken ones? I threw them away. He says "oh I really liked them". I said THEY WERE BROKE! He says "yeah but they were my favorite". I just gave him the LOOK....lol

I'll be happy to take the tree down and put Christmas decorations away. I hate clutter too.

I took down my tree yesterday and packed it all away. It's the other side of the coin, from the festive tree trimming It feels both a little melancholy, but also properly orderly. I'm the one who puts it all in order and packs it away for next year. The beautiful tree which is brought in with such mirth, is now uncerimoniously dumped over the bank. January is the month to get organized. I bought a new bamboo expandable utility tray to organize my utensil drawer (from Amazon), threw out duplicates and things I never use. It's satisfying to get the clutter under control.

The next January cure task is to organize the pantry: that may need to wait for Saturday. I had a yoga class tonight after work, so no time for it today.
