jmb3450's Journal, 02 Dec 15

194.6 lbs this morning, almost back to my pre-Thanksgiving weight. I'd really like to hit 190 lbs before Christmas. To try and do that I'm going to follow the plan that's worked in the past at this time of year. Refrain from the Christmas treats and goodies that are already showing up every day, if they're something that'll keep I'll set aside a little to enjoy later. Then come Christmas Eve I'll relax and enjoy things with some moderation for a few days. We'll celebrate Christmas twice, once here with my family and then a couple days later in NY with my wife's family. Two upcoming hurdles are Christmas parties this Friday evening and next Thursday. Was talking about that with my wife yesterday, we're to bring some snacks/side items, so I want to bring a couple things relatively healthy to eat even if they're not what you'd normally bring to a Christmas party.

I'm continuing to take it relatively easy on my lower back and sciatic nerve as that situation continues to improve. Other than this past weekend when we were visiting/travelling I'm still managing to get my 12K step goal in each day. Been depending on the exercise bike and Total Gym to get my heart rate up and do some strength training, that'll be the mainstay of my exercise through Winter. I needed a change up anyway as I was getting bored with what I was doing.

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!

Great planning - I believe that is the key. Strength training may be your answer now - it will pay off big in the long run. Better than cardio...

A relish or veggie tray is completely appropriate for a Christmas party and everyone will appreciate something besides sweets whether or not they admit it :D Sounds like you have a good plan in place and I know you can stick to it!

Pears or just a fruit basket are wonderful, too. I know that it's hard to turn down free food, especially if you're trapped at a dinner table and it's in big bowls & platters in front of you, but try to spend most of the time drinking water and conversing with fellow diners instead of wielding the fork.

Thanks friends. I'm thinking probably bring a veggie/fruit tray. Maybe something protein based too, not sure what that might be yet. Maybe a little peppered popcorn, even that would beat the sweet treats. The first party will just be snack stuff but the second one next week will be a huge smorgasbord of stuff.
