Greetings Buddies:

Quality is more important than quantity
- I see so many people worrying about their amount of calories, etc., and then wondering why they do not lose weight.

The QUALITY of what we choose to fuel our bodies with is more important! It is not just about the QUANTITY of calories if we choose to eat processed foods, frozen entrees full of sodium, sodas (even diet) or tons of carbs that equate to sugars!

People will say "a calorie is a calorie" but I disagree. If you still eat "junk" our bodies do not benefit metabolically even if we stay within our RDI.

Eat for quality, too! Any thoughts?

Words of the Week:
"Frustration is the first step towards improvement.”

I am dedicated, determined and diligent.

So True. I could not agree more. I would like to add a thought if I may. Along with quality, I fell it is important to enjoy the food. If a person is eating food that try enjoy they are more likely to keep eating the quality food rather then junk. When things don't taste good we tend to not eat it anymore. It is like gross tasting medicine (cough syrup..Yuk!). We know it will help us to feel better, but we hold off taking it as long as possible because it tastes gross. lol

Well said and i totally agree. Eat crap, you will feel like crap.. and wont lose weight. I've been on this site a few times now and this time around I've really taken the time to learn about what goes into my food before it goes into my body, not just counting carbs and calories, and I feel great now that Im not just shoving random carbage with nasty ingredients into body. And this is going to sound corny but I keep telling my son, respect your food. Wash it before cooking, store it properly, read the labels, read the ingredients, dont eat processed foods, prep and cook it correctly and it eat slowly and enjoy it..Since we began this process I have to say I get pretty darn excited to go to the farmers market LOL.. Great post! And I totally agree, all carbs are not created equally.

Well said and I agree. At the same number of calories, a higher level of simple carbs keeps me from losing weight. Cut the carbs back and increase protein qnd healthy fats, I can lose weight. All calories are not equal, and quality also counts for our health.

I agree! We tend to eat pretty close to home at my house, smoothies with fruits/veggies that we grow. That I notice when we eat out how quickly I bloat up from all the salt.

I agree with you 100%... My kids for example love chicken strips and nuggets. Well I was reading all the stuff they put in those things few weeks ago and made a healthy choice for them that i started making all of there nuggets and strips home made and not store bought so i knew exactly what is going in to them. Yes it take a little time to prepare things but well worth it and i saved a ton of money too. I bought 3 hugh packages of chicken breast and prepared them all and froze them so now i have it all ready for them.

Great post! For me I love love to cook. I love bold flavors and natural food cooked well. I also eat less as eating something that tastes terrific satisfies. Something that is junk food and doesn't taste that great is not filling, not sustaining. Like the Arby's sandwich I grabbed out of desperation yesterday, no food and it was 3:00! All calories are NOT created equally. Eat a moderate amount of whole natural unprocessed foods you will get the nutrients your body needs and lose weight.

Agreed and I will also add that if you do not nourish your body, it will continue to tell you it is hungry and want more food. If you feed your body the good nutrition it needs, it will stop telling you to eat all the time, hence no more cravings!!!
