kattay's Journal, 16 Apr 15

I had an awesome day in every way, except food wise (pun intended) which means yesterday. Seems I am always posting after midnight. Sigh. Time slides by me faster than it used to!

Got to be alone with my two year old granddaughter all day again!! Yay!!! We played hard on the swings, walking, her on the trampoline, and hiding blocks. Yes, I said blocks. She wanted to hide Easter Eggs so we hid those letter/number blocks instead. Over and over again. Got to read 'Three Little Pigs' eight times. She didn't want any other book. "Nana again!" It turned out to be a snack day.

Then dinner at my daughter's house. If I knew the menu beforehand I could have prepared for it. Not good at turning down spaghetti and I didn't. At least it was whole wheat. In one day I have managed to overdo it. Yes, I feel guilty about the food and I have blown my challenge. But, it was a good day. I will do better tomorrow (today :) )

The other wonderful thing that happened was my daughter's neighbor who hadn't seen me in a couple of years said I looked skinny and I must have lost a lot of weight! Yay!! No one has ever ever used the word skinny referring to me in the same sentence. She told me I looked great. Not that I am, will, or ever plan to be skinny. I don't think the word skinny means healthy but it was nice of her to sound so sincere. I laughed and said I have a lot more to go and thanked her. Afterthought was I wished I had talked to her before I ate those D@#@ peanut butter crackers!!

When I have a big day, I make the next day a lower day. I had that problem yesterday. I wasn't feeling the egg dinner I had planned, so I switched yesterday's and today's dinners. I don't usually have pb and j sandwiches so yesterday was a bit big.

Thanks msbuggirl! Yes, that is what I do too. If I know I'm going to be eating somewhere else, I cut back before and then after. Today is a low, low day :) I really thought my daughter would have had a salad. She is usually good about them. I do love nuts and nut butters. I usually don't have crackers. Too, too many carbs in one day!

Your granddaughter is precious. You had an active and marvelous day! :)

Kathy--don't be hard on yourself. I know I love spahetti--and my hubby's pasta meals! LOL. You have to live, too! Have a cheat day here or there and then get back to your "good" routine on the other days. The way I look at it is you are doing better than you were.

Thank you Draglist, Deb, Jillzee00, and HCB!! It was a wonderful day. Being around my family is the best thing in the world to me. I never complain about the food choices at family gatherings, though I might share on FS. I don't want to me the one that nobody wants to come because of being too picky :)

Kattay, you are right that we can't be picky about the food provided or people will stop wanting us to come over. I made a deal with myself to eat HEALTHY at home so that when I am invited to someone else's home or a restaurant, I can have s splurge and really ENJOY it. :)

Spaghetti vs. keeping up with a 2 year old...I'm afraid the spaghetti isn't going to work. You'll need way more energy! LOL I hope you counted all that play as exercise because you know its a fun way to move it, move it! :)

Ha Lucy1771! So true! But FS doesn't have a designation for that activity! I slept well that night!!

What a wonderful day with your granddaughter! Totally worth the spaghetti.

Thanks Bethlauren8! I think it was too :) I wish I hadn't eaten so much of it! My bad!

Its good that you got a lot of action, I trust you burned good cals. Don’t feel guilty over a dinner cause I think you got even. You burnt as much as you ate. In my opinion, you need to revise your goals and stick to your rules. In my case, I believe logging my activities helps me a lot to keep myself on the track.try it

Thanks izenfx! Yes, I do log my activities. I put the hide and seek stuff under walking. FS has just a few designations we can pick from, but it works :)

Sounds like you had an awesome day. I am sure you were wiped out by the end of the day. I wouldn't worry about the spaghetti. I am sure you had burned up more than enough calories through out the day to make up for it.

Thank you kellynn330. Yes, I think I did burn that spaghetti up. Or I hope so anyway. I'm at the point where weight goes off so slowly now that it can be so frustrating.

Kattay, you are so awesome & inspiring to me & others! Don't worry about one little day, you are sooo CLOSE to your long-awaited FOREVER GOAL! How much better do you feel now than when you started your journey? How much more energy do you have, & how much more can you do than before? Who cares if it's slow going now, at least IT IS GOING! I hope that thinking about these things will encourage you to keep up with your life long better eating habits. Then that few more lbs WILL come off, & STAY OFF. Best Wishes & Skinny Hugs, GLAMMER
