jmb3450's Journal, 13 Mar 15

I went to the doctor yesterday, was overdue about 3 months and they won't refill my prescriptions if I don't keep up on schedule with visits. I've been out of my thyroid medication for about a month and a half. Hadn't really correlated that to weight loss but now I'm wondering if that's not part of the reason my loss has slowed down. Part is certainly due to what I've eaten, been much better with things the past week and a half. I expect the pharmacy will have refills ready for me today so we'll see if the pace picks up once I'm back on the medication. I'm hypothyroid.

Great news as far as lab work - total cholesterol is 130, HDL=54 and LDL=66 and that's with reducing my satin med from 40mg/day to about 10mg/day (1/2 pill every other day). Got to remember to pick up more coconut oil too, I'm hoping that daily use might boost my HDL higher. I'd purposely stopped taking my blood pressure meds a couple weeks ago to see what the reading would be when I went to the doc's office, had been weaning myself down for a couple weeks prior to that. BP was 122/70, just a bit high on the first number, and matches up with the readings I've been taking at home. So I probably need to keep taking the BP meds for now but I'm going to half the dosage and continue to monitor. Have a nuclear stress test with my cardiologist next month and I'm actually looking forward to it which is a first. Hoping that maybe it'll show improved blood flow to my heart...truthfully I'll be disappointed if it doesn't. But I'm a realist and accept what is, and try to have a good attitude about things in general. At least I know I'm living much healthier and trying to do what I can to make the best of my health and life. Can't do a whole lot more than that.

Man am I glad Friday is here, I'm plain pooped out. Long days, loss of sleep from the time change, and one almost sleepless night this week has me dragging. Unfortunately no real sleeping in this weekend as I have commitments each morning, but at least I don't have to get up as early as I do through the week. Anyway, TGIF, have a great day.

Thanks for sharing...I'm not a Dr. and I don't even play one "in my mind" lol...but I would suspect getting back on meds would increase metabolism...have a great weekend...a restful and peaceful weekend.

jmb: I know what you mean about dragging. I use to be like that with the time change - this week, totally different energy levels so I am grateful! Good luck with the stress test next month!

Your doing, one thing I learned is don't sweat the small stuff as some more weight comes off all of your numbers will adjust

being that long off the thyroid meds could definitely affect not only the weight loss but also the energy level. It takes about 6 weeks of taking them to get your "level" back in the blood so hang tight :) I'm hypo too so I feel for you

Awesome~ wow - I take thyroid meds daily and if I got off them for as long as you did, I would be sleep walking - I was treated for too much thyroid hormone so now I basically have none without medicine.
