BuffyBear's Journal, 10 Feb 15

Yesterday I was patting myself on the back. Today I am wondering what is wrong with my head! Got lazy and ate what I had prepared for the grandkids last night - went way over carb target. In addition I ate cheap kielbasa (full of nitrites).

But tonight is their Mom's last class, so will be last night I have the grandkids. So much easier just cooking for two adults.

For those of you cooking for families, you have my sympathy!

I struggle when I feed my grand kids too! We try to eat after they leave, as to not consume the gooey mac and cheese they love! On the longer nights, when we eat together, I make sure we have lighter options for all of us. And you know kids, they eat every hour and a half practically!

Managing to eat according to a diet plan and also prep for kids is tricky! I find that if I'm very strict with myself during the day I have a bit of leeway at dinner, I just need to be careful about portion size, etc. It's still tricky, though. In some ways it might even be harder with grandkids? Not sure, but when my kids go to my folks' house they do things like make brownies and have extra desserts. Best of luck today!

Yes it was lasagna for the girls and I had egg whites and turkey bacon, I totally get it!!!

I wish I had your problem. My grandkids live too far away for little visits. I wish they lived closer. Saying that, I love kielbasa (Polish) sausage and I would have eaten it, too. Ha! As Draglist says, drink drink drink that water, preferably with lemon . On the bright side, it was low in carbs, right? :)

My kids are in and out so much its ridiculous. I currently have 2 on the west coast, 1 up near canada and 3 at home. A couple years ago they were all here with 2 of my grandkids as well for a few months. Feast or famine I tell you. It is very hard cooking for a group but with a large family I think its almost easier. We tend to have either a soup, pizza or pasta. That way everyone customizes what they want without driving me nuts. I am bad one for giving the grandbabies sweets.....

It's hard to believe you have 6 kids! You are a young looking mom and grandmom!

Nicholaix - what Mom2Boxers said!

Peeps ask me how I stay so young looking. I tell them I dont drink, smoke, or spend any time on beaches. I eat no meat, dairy, or processed food and exercise daily. Still want to look young? lol I can't imagine why no-one takes me up on it!

HA HA 0 that is so true Nicholaix - when people hear about my "program" they shy away quickly.
