Fritzy 22's Journal, 23 Apr 22

Just finished today's walk. Exactly 60 minutes. I got to the top of the "hill" and thought about going down the other side instead of making the right turn for the loop home. Went down about 2 driveways and then turned around. It's happened to me before when I am feeling good on my walk and I go much further than I had planned and then it's too late when I realize I still have to walk home. But I did alter the route a little and got on a dirt trail before heading home. I am enjoying the walks but they will be easier once I've lost 10 or 20 or 30 pounds.

Trying to figure out what I will eat today. I still have brussels sprouts and asparagus left. I used them in stir fries the last 2 days. I may roast them today.

The weather is nice today. We had a week of cooler weather with rain on several days. It's that time of year when it will be in the low 60's and then all of a sudden it's 80 and I need to turn on the a/c.

I do the same thing on my walks.

How far do you travel in an hour? Walking is the quickest way I cut weight, but it's power-walking. I like to walk, but no one to walk with. My wife is sedentary :( .

Thanks MisChelle - I sometimes get too ambitious because I feel so good at the beginning of my walk and then end up just dragging myself home. Adamevegod - I walk slow, probably because of my weight and the hills where I walk. A few years ago when I was walking every day I would get in my car and figure out how long each walk was. I had all the numbers on my refrigerator but threw them away when I stopped walking. I think I walked around 3 miles, no more than that. I walked partially on a dirt trail behind some homes.

Fritzy my physical therapist told me about a free app that I have used to figure out my distance. It is called Map My Walk. It is easy to use just turn your location on your phone and it measures the distance of your walk. Click start your workout and when you get home click end your work out. It gives you the time and calories burned and allows you to save the information. You can walk a different path every day. I believe it estimates calculates calories burned based on distance and time walked. When I start my walk I put my phone in my pocket and when I get home click the end my walk. I don't really pay attention to how many miles or how many steps just how long I walk. I am also a slow walker !

PS. Just like Fat Secret they have a premier version for a fee. You don't need that just go with the basic.

Fritzy - there is a google map direction available on-line - insert your address start point and destination street address - it works really well for distance travelled - that is the app that I use to track my distance. Even adding a two driveways there and back - is considered as a bit more - better than I am doing - I am a sporadic walker - my butt has not left my chair in 3 days! No and if or but about it. Good for you!

Thanks Crazycat - I couldn't find the app on my phone and the phone told me there isn't any room to add anything anyway. I don't really understand. Thanks Jergens - I use google maps all the time when I'm driving somewhere. Never thought about it for my walks. I didn't walk today - I hate garbage day because the trucks scare my dog. And I didn't walk yesterday. I woke up tired and by the time I finally got up it was too late to walk - too warm outside.
