Fritzy 22's Journal, 09 Feb 22

I had my 3rd physical therapy appointment yesterday. I told the therapist she just ruined my life after she told me not to use heat at all for the pain - no heating pad, no laying on the heated throw blankets. Even though I may feel better it doesn't help me heal and could increase inflammation. She also told me not to lay in bed until time to go to bed. I spend so much time in bed, watching TV, playing games on my laptop. It hurts when I move, so I don't move, other than 15 minutes at a time every hour or two. Anyway, I didn't go to lay down in bed until about 6pm. Baby steps. I was sore. After the morning appointment I cooked a meatloaf, I divided a 7 pound package of ground beef from Costco into 1 or 1 1/2 pound packs for the freezer as well as some patties to cook on the grill. I went for a short walk (believe it or not it was too warm at noon). I slept pretty good last night, no heating pad or blanket. Just got back from a walk of about 45 minutes with Bobby. I may go sit on the sofa with ice on my back or leg for awhile.

Hang in there. Give them the benefit of the doubt and do your very best to follow through with their recommendations.

I am glad you are getting some good advice! And way to go working it. I love meat loaf (well no surprise there)

Physical therapy changed my life, but I hated every minute of the exercises. lol. I still have to convince myself to do them even though I KNOW the benefits. Following their advice will be worth it even though it's a painful process.

I’m a believer in Physio. I’ve been for several different issues over the years and it always fixed my problem. Be faithful in doing what they tell you. It works if you do the work. Hang in there Fritzy!! ❣️

keep moving, Fritzy. it keeps your mind going as much as it helps your body. 45 minutes is a great walk. I'm about to abandon my computer and do the same with my beasts.

Hang in there. Those PT's know their stuff (more than the docs, I think).

Thanks Adameve - I'm trying to do what she says. I am not using heat and trying not to lay down during the day. Thanks Liv! I ate too much of the meatloaf today, for both lunch and dinner. I just increased the amount of everything listed in my food journal under lunch. I like it a little too much! Timetodrop - I'm only doing little exercises. Just arching my back a little while lying down. moving my legs from side to side. Only one thing makes my leg hurt and I don't think it's supposed to hurt. I keep asking for clarification on how to do the movement. Thanks Wifey. My only previous experience with physical therapy was years ago for my shoulder and it didn't do any good and something they did actually burned my shoulder. So I've been reluctant. But the young woman seems to know what she is doing. Katsolo - it was so good to be able to walk so far. I was motivated. I still can't handle the hills in my area but I know some routes with minimal inclines and that's what I did today. Will go again tomorrow. Thanks Erika - I am hoping the physical therapy helps. So far we are only working on the sciatic nerve but my back really hurts as well. I may have to go back to the chiropractor for that. My doctor wants to see me once I complete the physical therapy to see if I feel better and figure out if anything else needs to be done.
