Fritzy 22's Journal, 23 Jan 22

I've had a rough week. One of my cats (100% inside cat) escaped one morning around 9. I spent the day looking for him and I kept finding him but he'd run off whenever he saw me. He wanted a day of adventure and I was worried about him running into the street - worried about cars and dogs and whether he knew his way home. He was about 7 to 8 houses away, across the street visiting with another cat. Finally he did come home around 10pm when he got hungry. But what a lousy day. I am not doing good at losing weight. Just don't feel like planning meals or cooking. I saw on the news last week that singer Meat Loaf had died after being sick with Covid. That made me sad. I really liked him. I'm tired of the Covid years. 2020 and 2021 were exactly the same. I've been home for 2 years worrying about getting sick. Every day is exactly like the day before and the day before that. If it weren't for my pets I'd probably just stay in bed for days on end. But they expect to be fed twice a day and I have to scoop litter boxes and change water dishes, etc. Some days are better than others. But I miss my old routine, meeting friends for lunch, playing Mah Jong with a group of ladies, going to the coast 4 or 5 times a year.

💙🤗Things will get better Fritzy...hang in there. It was nice to see your post, seems like a long time since I have. What a terrifying time of worrying about your kitty. Mine are also indoor cats and I would be very scared if they got out. Glad yours came home eventually and that he's ok 👍🐾

Thankfully we have our cat's! I know mine are both the source of my sanity and doing their best to drive me crazy during this time. I hope you can continue to hang in there. I feel your pain and we're here to support you ❤️

Thanks Bill, CrystalJo and jeannie. I worry too much, he had so much fun outside! He has been trying to escape again ever since he had one day of adventure. He follows me everywhere and anticipates every time he thinks I'm going to a door and gets there before me.

I hear you Fritzy. These are not good times. There are struggles. I am trying to take pleasure in what I can do but I miss normal. At least your cat had an adventure. LOL

Give yourself a reward each day, whether it's a walk on a sunny day or just making something that takes a bit more time to cook that you never tried before. Your story reminded me of an orange tabby I once had. She disappeared one day and we decided to get in the car to find her. We found her 8 blocks away on the sidewalk. We opened the car door and she jumped in as if nothing had happened. Cats are so funny.

Pretty much the same. I've had very few adventures outside. Though did go to Glacier last year...mom and I already had tickets for another trip before this mess started and would have lost a sizable chunk of money if we hadn't used them. I do get out to the barn where my horse is some and exposed to limited people. I'm with you though so tired of this.

We're all sick of COVID and want our old lives back. Stay focused though, yes pets need to escape once in a while too,lol

why don't you try Letty's zoom zumba class so you can connect with people you know? or walk bobbie? outside is good, just maintain that 6' distance if you're still worried. it doesn't float everywhere, just stay outside while the weather is tolerable. as far as the trips to the coast, just do it. life is too short.

One of my friends who has a cat caught Covid from her. Apparently an equal opportunity virus. Zoos are even vaccinating some animals.

Hey Fritzzy. I'm sorry you had a day of worry over your kitty. We're all working our way through this virus. The vaxxes seem to have gotten me through it relatively easily. I wish you well!

Thanks Liv, Celery and Mouse - -I have been enjoying watching the wildlife outside. I probably spend more money on bird food than pet food. I get squirrels, turkeys and dozens and dozens of little birds. Rakasha - last year after I got the 2nd vaccine I felt safe enough to take 3 trips up to the Oregon coast. Then the Delta variant hit and I realized not everyone was getting vaccinated so I started worrying again. Kenna - I have no NEED to live in fear. I guess I just watch too much news on TV. Hopefully, since my cats are 100% inside, except for Tony's day of adventure I won't catch Covid from them! Thanks Cmj20 ad Cstrutz, Katsolo, and Erika. I saw my doctor today. He said since I am triple vaccinated that if I get COVID it would probably be very mild. Katsolo he also said to just take my trips to the coast! I may just do it since the weather is nice now. Just need to make sure the lady who comes in twice a day to feed the cats and give Marco his insulin shots is available.
