Kenna Morton's Journal, 06 Sep 21

I took a friend in to the ER last night and while I sat in the waiting room while she was being processed all I heard was complaints, and whining and bitching. About the wait times, etc. it was so disheartening. My medical brothers and sisters are working past their endurance, working more hours than they ever thought possible. Tired and scared for their own families. Understaffed, overcrowded. The picture is just another day at the office in my hospital where I worked. — a level 1 trauma and stroke center. Please be kind to them. You have no idea what they are dealing with. My own daughter works in the ER, not a nurse but in registration. She is working 12-16 hours a day 6 days a week and has been for a while.now. Work and sleep. You wouldn’t believe the crap she puts up.

Daughter sort of grew up in the ER. She spent a lot of time helping out as did my oldest daughter. So did the kids of my coworkers. Back in the day we had them take patients over to X-ray, run errands to lab or pharmacy, just do anything they could to help. And so it seems in her job now in the current Covid climate. She gets pulled from her registration job to just go help her crew out doing whatever she can— as a teenager she saw her share of blood and guts and sick people and got used to it.

I, too, am a retired nurse. Hospital nursing for 30 years, 12 hour shifts, i retired early, just before covid was on the radar. I currently volunteer on my old unit, though covid just shut down the volunteer services again. My former coworkers are so disheartened and exhausted and largely unappreciated. Most are within 5-10 years of retirement age, but are working overtime, with no end in sight. I am fearful that healthcare workers will start to leave In Droves just so they can survive, and I can’t say I blame them, I fully understand their situation. I’m sorry to hear your daughter has covid, I pray she recovers quickly and completely 🙏🙏

I'm sorry you had to go through that. People are stupid (sorry for the negative language) & Self centered. They don't know they are stupid. They are all around us. I don't hate them. I have stupid moments. When I have too many of those moments, I an idiot. If I have a whole day of stupid, I become moronic. I get a good night sleep, I'm brilliant again or so I think in my mind. It's all perception.

People at their worse.😕 They become scared themselves and very demanding. Thank Goodness my family is not in that category and appreciate the work of nurses and doctors as they are on the front lines of a war! Thankful for the great care they gave my husband. 💕 He came out shell shocked, as he watch Covid patients fighting to breath and nurses constantly there to help. He saw all the hard work they were up against.😮 Please be patient with the care you get from hospitals, as staffing is needed and their work with belligerent patients can be so depressing.😢

prayers on their way. I always try to be patient when waiting to see my doctor. I know they are greatly stressed and are doing more than I have to do. I take along drawing pencils and paper to occupy my time. I wish everyone would just stop placing selfish demands on the doctors and nurses and all the medical staff.

people need to stop complaining and thank doctors, nurses and janitors who clean up the messes before everyone decides they don't want to be in the medical field anymore!

Right, used to work in the ER and ICU. We used to hate holiday weekend because people would come to the ER for everything not emergency then complain they had to wait. We triaged people so real emergencies were priority.

Diana1234. Thank you and thanks to everyone. She, of course, is vaccinated. The intent of the vaccine is to maybe prevent infection but to at lease decrease the number of deaths. We have DELTA variant and now WU with other variants equally if not more virulent come. WU is already here in all states I believe.. My bag is packed and I’m ready to head to Texas if necessary.

I'm so sorry for your daughter and all other health care professionals working in hospitals during these times. I'm praying that she only has a mild case and will quickly recover. To me, is seems appropriate for everyone who cares about others to do their part in stamping down this virus...

Its a mess, under the circumstances they should have had the military enforcing the lock downs.
