Just an interesting (to me anyway) observation, and a question:

I'm down 9.8 lbs from my starting weight 15 days ago.
My calorie deficit in that time is 23,556.
Divide the deficit by 3600 to get estimated lbs of fat burned = 6.54 lbs

So I've lost about 6.5 lbs of fat and about 3.3 lbs of water? Does that sound like a reasonable calculation?

It's possible in theory, but I think the reality is more complicated. When you lose weight, you lose fat, water and usually some muscle (unless you are getting enough protein). Protein helps us keep muscle as we lose weight and build new muscle. No matter what you lose though, so that is wonderful.

It's likely. You need to bring up the protein at the expense of some carbs there, jmb. Get rid of the junk carbs first. Protein protects your current muscle tissue. If you're not exercising much .6 gr per pound should do it. If you are, try to hit 1 gr.

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it. I'll go back thru my food diary and see what I can do to get more protien in and less carbs. NM if you have any specific recommendations I'd like to hear them.

Something else to consider - I've noticed that some calories are not absorbed but pass. Take raw pumpkin seeds as an example. They have about 160 calories per serving, but not all of them are digested and used up by the body. But wow, your weight loss is going well! On eating out, I've found breakfast to be the most difficult meal to order out and get the protein carb ratio correct. Lunch and dinner menu's always seem to have a healthy protein vegetable combo.
