Calories in, calories out. For my height and lifestyle, 1300 calories is a maintenance diet. When I was dancing 3 nights a week, I could lose weight eating 1100 calories a day. Now I need to bump up the losses with walking and I don't so to have a deficit I have to cut to 900 or so calories a day without exercise.
Mostly I understand this through trial and error but I based my tests on math and science. I know my weakness is sweets so I try to plan those in so they don't completely lock out any success with all the other things I am doing.
I have had people tell me that I don't eat enough - I just review my health like I am a dog: is my coat shiny? is my breath ok? do I have good energy? My nose is never wet, though.

I totally get the lower calorie issue - yes, they will say it is too low - but I have been where you are now - maybe try changing the macros? More protein might move your metabolism...just a thought

I am just wondering why you don’t do strength training at home. Easy, cheap and effective. Walking is wonderful for overall health. Your body needs a certain amount of basic nutrition to stay healthy.

I figure this is the path to a new start also. I will be riding the exercise bike for 15 min, and then finishing my research of boxing places. Today is a new day! It's all good. I burned a lot when I had the 'bag' down and punching. Now it is time to work on a heavier bag, and a new physique. You can do it everyone!

I’m a veterinarian & you made me lol. Healthy dogs don’t always have wet noses 😄

If I want to lose weight I have to keep my calories under 1000 because I am under 5 feet tall and live a sedentary life style. (I’m 70 yo) I’m doing low carbs b/c type 2 diabetes keeps me craving sweets and I find myself mentally stronger when I avoid them. I do eat some sweets occasionally, but have to straitened up the next days following. (I think it has something to do with ketosis). I am under a doctor’s supervision for all my physical afflictions. The medical trained people always think it’s too low (1000). I think they just love their “laws of averaging” . Thanks for your post. It helps me to see others with the same struggles as me. Happy Easter 🐣

@Kenna Morton - I wonder that myself! Persistent depression is the answer, I think.

I hear everybody.pre pandemic I swamfor2 hours every day, not for weight management but for the sheer mental and physical pleasure of it I would loose a1/4-1/2 pound a day if Ididnt keep my calories up. Now, jus like everyone else I have to watch what I eat even thou I walk or hike 2-4 miles almost everyday.
