Draglist's Journal, 03 Feb 14

Pre-dinner weigh in at 215.8 as I tried to shake some of the Super Bowl weight with an IIFYM sort of adjustment day. Yesterday I went way over on fat, carbs, and calories, but protein and fiber was OK. So today I attempted to adjust down those first three things. One interesting thing is that I've started taking gummie vitamins. They taste great and are very easy to use. But holy cow, once I wrote them all down I realized I was packing away 150 calories a day in basically candy. I'm sticking with them until they are gone, but that's 150 calories and 30 grams of carbs per day. I also overdid it by one scoop of protein powder tonight as I forgot to record the first one I ate, and then overcompensated to get my macro number to 220. I hit 240, which is OK, because I was a bit down yesterday. Still have some adjustment to do tomorrow. (Fiber does not display as an average on FS).

IIFYM Targets: 70 fat, 197 carbs, 42-53 fiber, 220 protein, 2306 cals
Today eaten: 51 fat, 131 carbs, 47 fiber, 241 protein, 1875 cals
Running avg: 85 fat, 224 carbs, 48 fiber, 225 protein, 2692 cals

I bought my DH some gummy bear vitamins. He wasn't taking any vitamins before, so it's a way to get him to take them. You guys are such big kids. :)

Frustrating - those little things we overlook! BTW - I saw about half of your interview and my computer decided to freeze up. I'll ask Bob Reed what he remember of him. Think they ran in about the same era.

Loving your metabolic age. Mind boggling. No sweat guy. You know it's going to come off. I did an 8% incline at 3.40mph. Burned a bit more calories in 20 minutes like that then 30 minutes at flat and 4.0. And I could walk afterward. I impressed myself.

Hey Bill, I know what you mean. I get 65 calories per day before breakfast just in my fish oil, dha, chewable vitamin C, B12 Softchew & CLA Softchew. Like you, I'm going to go to the pill form of these when I run out of the current stock. Unfortunately, I bought about a 6 month supply of them to get the bulk discount...lol! Your Tanita numbers look great by the way.

Not even good vitamins Bill! Yikes! Through the gummies away and invest in some high quality supplements. The ones I use are awesome. No doubt more expensive but they actually are good for your body adpnd give you what you may not get from your food. Let me know if you want to learn more. I'd be happy to share what I know.

Glad you're being cautious. My regiment with vitties/supplements is pretty intense and regimented when I'm on everything full-blast. Still trying to grasp the fact you're eating gummie bears. hahahahaha. Love it.

congrats Bill, 4000kcals is a fantastic effort lol, but hey superbowl is only once a year. Funny but the other day I was reading an article by some doctor or other made a big deal that in most situations supplements are a complete waste of money, and in some cases do more harm than good. Only reason I noted was 'Choice' magazine agreed. they say its a multi billion dollar industry and weve been brainwashed by marketing, and funded studies. they say if your doctor recommends them for medical reasons that's one thing, taking them for general 'health' benefits is something else entirely. If nothing else it made interesting reading. apparently if we all eat healthy 'whole' foods and plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables we don't need supplements................just throwing it out there :)
