I'm a "young" 50 who has struggled most of my childhood and all of my adulthood with my weight. I joined FATSECRET on January 18, 2009. This site has been an incredible support. The tracking tools have been essential but quite frankly journaling has been key to losing the weight this time ... and managing to keep it off, give or take a few pounds of fluctuating. The support here from friends I have made has been wonderful!! I hesitate to use the word success because that implies 'arrival' and I truly believe this is a process, an ongoing journey, not a weight loss program, but a change in how I live my life with my body and with food.

I have probably weighed close to 300 lbs. in my adulthood. The highest weight I ever recorded was 277 lbs on March 4, 2004. This path has had many twists and turns and I have learned much in the process. I've been on MANY 'diets' ... I no longer 'diet' ... I now work on having a healthier relationship with food. There are no forbidden foods for me. However, there are foods that seem not to "agree" with me and are more difficult for me to eat in moderation.

I'm determined to be healthy and kind to myself ... that's why I'm here!!

I don't add buddies without bio's written. I like to have a sense of who folks are before I add them. Also, I have a hard time keeping up with everyone ... so please don't be offended if I disappear off your list ... if you haven't been around for a while I sometimes "clean house."
