I've got a head of lettuce in the refrigerator right now that I'm afraid to look at. I bought it with the intent to made salads, but..............

I have almost completely switched from lettuce to cabbage for EVERYTHING, EVEN SANDWICHES UNLESS I have a specific salad I’m making. And, as a plus, you are getting far more nutritional value from cabbage than from lettuce.

I know it is not the point of the post :) but... some lettuce can be kept in a bit of water and stay fresh for a lot time. It is what I do with my kale. Cookies are good too

That's interesting, Liv! I do truly love a good salad but I buy it bagged because (this sounds so dumb) I can't make a good salad when I have to buy a head of lettuce. Anyhow- even in the bag you can tell it is already turning and it will have the expiration date like another 4 days away. Kenna- I have never used cabbage for any salad but have used it in tacos and wraps before.

I was always told to add a moist paper towel to the bag to keep it fresh longer. I’ve noticed with bagged salads/lettuce that the more air inside the bag the quicker it’ll go bad. I buy the skinniest flattest bag they have when I buy it. Mostly I just get baby spinach or spring mix. Like $5 for a big plastic container of it. The last one I made us salads with dinner two nights and had enough for two small salads for myself. But I only add cheese, meat and lite Italian dressing to it. The kids don’t care for the flavor though.

In my kitchen, I have four Cadbury flakes, an almost full box of Malteser truffles, an almost full box of dinosaur chocolate cookies, a half full box of Tim Tams, several flavors of Magnum ice-cream bars, a Milka bar, half a box of Ferrero Rocher, two packs of shortbread and some other cookies. I feel really proud of myself because most of them have been there since October and I'm no longer tempted to eat a whole box of cookies in a sitting or several ice-cream bars. There's something to be said about controlling your environment, but I think it's an even bigger win when you can be near food and it doesn't control you. I love cabbage too, raw or cooked.

Hmm glad I’m not in your kitchen. It’s hard for me to pass up Cadbury items lol. Everything else I could probably pass by but you’d be missing anything Cadbury 😛

LC- I am not to that point, but I hope to be one day. Maybe I am kinda to that point. We have about 5 kinds of potato chips and cereals and cookies at any given time- its the actual chocolate candy that would be a struggle still for me. I had a very favorite resident named Larry Clark and it is so weird for me to call you LC when he was my LC. :) I may have to type out your name.
