Had visitors on the deck this morning. There was another mama turkey with another dozen or so chicks that were down below. Cute, but messy. Had to hose off the deck when they left and that scared the buck sleeping under the deck away. We're in the middle of a heat wave - temperatures from 98 to 104 for another 5 days or so.
Had a phone appointment with my doctor. Just on the phone. No face time or zoom or whatever people are doing now. Don't want to worry about makeup or my hair or even my pajamas. Told him I'm fine but not eating the way he tells to me. Explained I don't like to go out to the grocery store so I've been eating out of the pantry. He suggested carrots, potatoes, onions, brussels sprouts as vegetables that last longer and said frozen fruits and vegetables work good too.
I asked him if there were people sick with the coronavirus right now in our local hospital and he said yes, there were some patients with the virus. I asked him if he considered me high risk and he said not really, except that I'm 65. He said overall I'm in good health. I asked about my weight and he said he didn't think it was so bad as to cause a risk. So overall I am glad I talked to him and now I am motivated to eat better. Can't get younger than 65, but I can work on the weight.
