Debbie Cousins's Journal, 11 May 20

Lifted and carried 1,275 pounds of paving stones yesterday to put around the perimeter of our new pool area (75 stones at 17-pounds each). Also put down a 30'x30' tarp, cut it to 26'x26' and taped the cut edges together, and placed the pool liner in the center of the pool area. It needs to sit in the sun for an hour or so this morning to become more pliable. On tap for today: assemble all the legs for the pool, fill it with 1" of water and kick out all of the wrinkles in the liner.

Supposed to get down to 39 degrees tonight and tomorrow night, so not going to fill it any more than that until Wednesday, when I'll add a foot of water. Then, on Thursday, I'll fill it with warm water from the kitchen tap (using an adapter to connect the garden hose), because it is supposed to get up to 78 degrees Thursday and only going down to the 60's at night. I ordered a solar blanket to go over the surface of the water when we're not using it -- that will help to heat the water and to keep the heat from dissipating in the evening. Expecting to have the kids over Thursday (for the filling) and again on Friday and Saturday (temps 85 and 87!)

Don't know if I mentioned that the reason we're going to all this trouble getting a 22' above-ground pool is because the community pool (which costs $500 to join for the summer) will not be opening until mid June, IF EVEN THEN. They might not open at all, and the grandkids are used to me taking them to the pool a couple times a week during the summer. Hopefully, they'll have a great year and the pool will last for several seasons!

I'm still out of control in the eating department. Maybe a few days in a swimsuit will shock me into compliance with a diet of some kind! Being on a healthy WOE is just so far from the forefront of my mind right now. Maybe swimming will help to burn some calories!

Aloha, Debbie🤙🏼 I joined FS in Aug 2019 and I remember that you invited me to a few of your challenges. I found that FS can be a great forum for encouragement, support, and tools to successfully reach weight loss goals, which I just did recently! I checked out member profiles and followed those who are consistent, focused, and health minded. It was a bit disconcerting at times coming upon members who use FS primarily as a personal diary or social outlet because that is not what I signed up for. But I digress. Take this time to reset, then pick yourself up and press forward because YOU deserve your best life!

LOL, that sounds eerily similar to my cinderblock project for the pool. The end results are worth it though. Nothing better than cool water on a hot day. If you haven't started filling yet, you may want to consider some sheets of Styrofoam type insulation underneath in addition to the sand, will help extend the life of the liner. If you're beyond that, you can always do it next year.

Our pool is closed for the summer. They already decided. I bought a little pool for outside. It is 30" deep and 8' wide. hahahahaha. Unsure what my plan was but better than nothing just to sit in I guess. 😆🤷🏻‍♀️

Hi Deb, Life has it's challenges for all of us just now. I love that you are planning fun with the Grand Kids. You still have your mind on your health and wanting to get that back into play. You will. In the mean time, I want to thank you for the weekly challenge invitations. They have helped me so much this time around.
